 Re: 4/21 weekend
That seems great. Can’t imagine it does much less than 25m this weekend

 Re: 4/21 weekend
Evil dead previews were very presales heavy. I am thinking closer to high teens rather than 25m. But let us see how friday goes.

 Re: 4/21 weekend
Deadline midday update. Mario - 13.5/56m Evil Dead - 9m friday/18-22m Covenant - 2.1/5.7 yuck JW4 - 1.4/5.3 D&D - 1.35/5.2 Air - 1.4/5.1 I hope the numbers stick for holdovers as they are good. Mario will go up for sure. Evil dead hopefully crosses 20m. Covenant is another big bomb. https://deadline.com/2023/04/box-office-evil-dead-rise-super-mario-bros-movie-2-1235333373/

 Re: 4/21 weekend
10.3m for Evil Dead. Strong #.
Lol at Reinfield and Pope's Exorcist. Horrible scheduling.

 Re: 4/21 weekend
Ugh at Renfield for breaking our $20M+ OW streak. Thanks ED for bringing it back!

 Re: 4/21 weekend
Very impressive for Evil Dead especially considering there have been four horror movies released in the last two weeks.
Looks like mid 50s for Mario which would be good, but we need $60M for the MOG meme. Let's-a-go!

 Re: 4/21 weekend
If ED somehow pulls a $25M OW would be funny if it manages to outgross Shazam. WB needed a break so at least they can depend on horror.
Also I feel like that canceled Batgirl movie could have probably outgrossed Shazam 2 from sheer curiosity of people if WB had reversed course.

 Re: 4/21 weekend
I thin the flash trailer reaction, Fraser’s Oscar win, they will rethink the Michael Keaton Batman especially if Flash delivers. It’s not too hard to rework Gunn’s Batman and Robin film into a Batman Beyond type film

 Re: 4/21 weekend
Shazam having worse legs than BvS is really something... if Guardians has shit legs yeah I think superhero films are in trouble.

 Re: 4/21 weekend
You realize outsize of Avengers 2, an MCU sequel has never opened less. Everyone on here seems to think this will open sub 90 for some reason. I see a 140 with a slight chance of increase.

Quote: https://deadline.com/2023/04/box-office ... 235333373/The third Friday for Super Mario is now $14M (-38%), as the third weekend eased an awesome 37% to $58M — higher than what we spotted Friday. Some distribution sources thought Super Mario would take a slightly harder hit due to softer midweek numbers as kids returned to school after spring break. That’s so not the case. hopefully actuals pushes it over $60m

 Re: 4/21 weekend
$58M puts within striking distance of a MOG meme. Come on Sunday actuals. Great holds all around except for last week's openers who got murdered by Evil Dead.
Also is it just me or has thenumbers been loading really slow these last couple weeks?

 Re: 4/21 weekend
When was the last time that we had such an exciting box office run? Yeah Avatar 2 was big, but I don’t feel like it was as exciting?

Universal underestimated Mario's Sunday by some $1.5m while WB underestimated EVIL DEAD RISE by some $1m...

We expected a billion but no one thought 2 billion I guess I have been blind too much to the political forums lately. I’ve been so excited by the Mario performance because I haven’t been this eighth about a movie so many others on this forum were wrong about since Charlotte’s Web in 2006.
