 Re: Creed weekend thread
According to Deadling 74%, or 4m came from Thursday. Pretty strong, hopefully can go for 40m+.

 Re: Creed weekend thread
Probably not enough for 50m, but mid 40s is still likely

 Re: Creed weekend thread
Amazing for the 9th movie in a franchise that started 47 years ago.
Will be our 3rd $20M+ OW in a row. Could see that reach 7 or 8 weekends if Renfield and D&D do that.

 Re: Creed weekend thread
Nice start for Creed. Even though its in a long running franchise, this feels like a big movie star performance for both Jordan and Majors. Glad to see people responding to that. I think this could be a good way forward for franchises too. Just change a few things up now and then so the audience doesn't feel like they have to do homework before seeing the new movie.

 Re: Creed weekend thread
I have conservative estimates for March / April movies bringing 2023 box office to $2.5B so a good entry to the summer. About $5B with May / June movies. Good momentum from Q1 2023 hopefully can give us a chance at $10B though I see $9B as a better bet.
Also, $200k in Thursday previews for Operation Fortune: Ruse de guerre. Ant Man is also losing 520 theaters so clearly underperforming if theaters are ready to give it the boot. Took week 4 for Dr. Strange to start losing 500+ theaters.

 Re: Creed weekend thread
So from looking at the biggest openings, only Transformers 4 had a 100m+ opening and failed to hit $250m as far as I can see... meanwhile Ant-Man is limping to $200m lol yowza

 Re: Creed weekend thread
Deadline is saying 20m Friday/45m weekend for Creed. How cool would it be for Scream, Shazam and John Wick do 40m+ as well? Seems possible but $35m+ for all seems like a safe bet.

 Re: Creed weekend thread
Creed is definitely going higher than what deadline is saying. i would say closer to 22 than 20 and i think OW will be close to 55m. WOM is uber strong and presales are also great over the weekend.

 Re: Creed weekend thread
A few potential hits in April would help keep the box office party going:
A horror breakout in April would help keep the momentum going. Renfield, The Pope's Exorcist (Russell Crowe), or Evil Dead Rise.
I could see Paint be an indie hit too with Owen Wilson. The Covenant maybe could do well in the heartland. Chevalier looks like a flop so don't have much hope for it.
I could also see Big George Foreman with Forest Whitaker do well and keep the boxing momentum going from Creed.
Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret could also be a darkhorse moderate hit.

 Re: Creed weekend thread
50m+ weekend is incredibly strong. Good for Michael B Jordan. I forgot the other Creeds had 5-days so that's why I was expecting a similar 3-day.

 Re: Creed weekend thread
deadline and their stupid projections. Its going for high 50s with that OD. I think even something like 22m sat and 16m sunday can take it to 60m. Let us see how rest of the weekend goes. But walkups were excellent yesterday and it will only get better today.
