Re: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 predictions
I think the interest for this is genuine and as it will close the current GotG trilogy - it should see an uptick in gross. Expecting $400-$450m - especially due to Adam Warlock.

I think this is last hotly anticipated movie left for Marvel beyond the dedicated canvass. Could be a super smash hit upwards to SpiderMan levels

Re: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 predictions
This will be a tear jerker for me like the 2nd film. We are going to lose members. I see it topping 400m domestic and over a billion total.

Re: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 predictions
Trailer is good but doesn't make it look different enough to break out beyond what the second did.
Maybe inflation will get it past 400m but probably closer to 375.

Re: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 predictions
Underwhelming trailer views as well. Gunn should make a solid entertainer but there is no chance for 1B WW. $ too strong and last 2 sequels dropped quite a bit even if you take out china gross.
For now I would say 160 OW/400 DOM/800WW

Re: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 predictions
Part of my issue on this one for me is also that Pratt feels overexposed at this point in terms of projects that the third installation here doesn't feel fresh at all.
Lego Jurassic Mario Avengers/Thor Amazon's Tomorrow War Guardians Holiday Special
He's also playing Garfield in 2024. How many animated characters should he play at this point? Just feels like non-stop $200M+ movies where he stars. At least Mario feels fresh but not getting Guardian feels at the level of Spidy's departure though that had a freshness from the multiverse and old cast member returns.

Will this possibly be any good after the last few projects have been mediocre? Best it seems Marvel can do these days is Black Panther Wakanda Forever 84%

Re: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 predictions
They should have had Thor in this as well. He plays well with Rocket. At least in a small role. For MCU to amp up they need tons of cameos at this point. Could have teased other characters as well. Why not Harry Styles character in this movie.

Re: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 predictions
I’m actually glad there is no Thor in this. His characters has become too much of a goofball and the Guardians deserve one final adventure together in their own film.
I think this looks good and will Marvel’s biggest film this year and the biggest of the GotG series.

Yeah, Thor needs a few years hiatus.

This will underperform.
Thinking 135m OW and 335m total.

Re: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 predictions
I think hype is there. They are playing up the finale factor and Rocket is among the most popular MCU characters. Focusing on him is the right way to go. Big question is how its received. Gunn and its a come back movie after he was fired initially means he should have brought his A game. If it gets 85%+ reviews and 7.0+ avg rating, I can see this open > 160m and make 400m+. But if it pulls in a thor or ant 3 then it will under perform. Let us hope for the best.

Marvel really needs a great WOM movie here, the next year and a half looks so meh.

Re: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 predictions
A lot are still getting good WOM, critics reception is softer but still solid overall. I think people just are getting kind of fatigued. Losing Stark and Cap and unfortunately Boseman, Hawkeye, and Black Widow (who was going to be the face with Spider-man and the plan was probably Ant Man) Phase 5 is unfortunately not Phase 4, but Phase 1 part 2 which was rather boring for what was to come in later stages.
Secret Invasion looks pretty cool, excited for Loki 2, still need to see Hawkeye, She Hulk, and whatever the hell that Oscar Isaac one is. Wolverine/Deadpool will be super hyped/, Blade, always excited for Guardians. Phase 5 looks better as it goes and Phase 6 looks to hopefully be a knockout.

Re: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 predictions
its really early but this is having the slowest presales start among all MCU big openers from NWH onwards even slower than Ant 3. Let us see how things go. MCU presales have huge OD and then plod along until final week surge. So OD is critical.

Middle one is generic but other 2 Rocket based ones are really good.

MCU has truly fallen on hard times if Keyser's pre sale post bears fruit, this shouldn't have gone any lower than Thor 4.

MCU has truly fallen on hard times if Keyser's pre sale post bears fruit, this shouldn't have gone any lower than Thor 4. I think WOM for both was OK. Personally I liked both even though wasn't anticipating either. Looks like the current marketplace has returned to the uber frontloaded-ness of the pre-pandemic period. Even loved films like Scream 6 and John Wick 4 had big drops in their second weekends. Ant-man and Shazam weren't as loved. For Ant-man, MCU fatigue has set in - especially with the multiverse schtick wearing thin as it adds very little intrigue after the initial novelty. For Shazam, the Gunn announcement has certainly killed anticipation for these standalones and DC fans are baying for blood. Sad situation.

I'm sure it'll open at atleast where Volume 2 landed but they are basically marketing this movie as "COME SEE ROCKET RACCOON DIE." Which isn't the best way to attract casuals and families.

Re: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 predictions
Killing Rocket would be unfortunate. He is the best of all the Guardians and played well in Endgame even when others were not around. I am hoping they knock off Peter Quill. Pratt was great in the 1st movie and then got progressively annoying. Plus he is everywhere and I am sure Gunn will offer him something in DCU. Its time to move on.
On Presales across multiple chains its at 75-80% range OD presales of Ant 3 !!!! They both started their presales exactly month before release. Its just around half of Thor OD presales and low 60s% of OD presales for Wakanda !!! Dr Strange was at a different level compared to all those movies and No Way home level wont be seen for any movie in a long time(7x OD presales of Guardians 3 !!!!). Its early to predict precise OW under Guardians 2 seem likely at this point.

Yeah I'm hoping its a misdirect. Rocket is the easiest to bring back for big team-ups. Getting Bradley Cooper on the poster for voice actor money is a huge bargain.
