Lightyear isn't doing very well here tonight. The Wednesday showing only had a handful of people as well. Granted tickets were over $18 but it hasn't rebounded much tonight. I'm regretting predicting a 90 Million opening.

I probably feel twice as worse about my prediction in the June/July contest about Lightyear's opening weekend boxoffice than you do. If I had read the plot from Wikipedia before the contest's deadline, I would never have predicted such a high number. Andy, it seems to me, really likes Buzz Lightyear and wouldn't have been so happy about receiving a Buzz Lightyear toy if he saw the Lightyear movie. I think Andy would have continued to prefer Woody and simply kept Buzz in his toy box.
As far as predicting the opening weekend boxoffice this late, some at Box office Theory have the presales mirroring those of Die Another Day. It would be very bad if Lightyear ended up with an opening weekend of $47.1 million.

$47.1M would be bad and likely with inflation at Good Dinosaur bad. Random question, why would they compare Lightyear (family film opening post pandemic) with a James Bond movie from 20 years ago that opened in November? More out of curiosity as I feel box office has changed so much from that era with more frontloading.

Yeah that comparison makes no sense

It seems some studios are treating it as a 4-day weekend, and so reporting is delayed.

On 4 day weekends, studios tend to release Monday estimates

Must be a record for how late we've gotten actuals for Sunday. Top Gun Maverick is expected to go way up from actuals to number one on Sunday.

21 days to top $800m worldwide for Top Gun Maverick... and then 4 days later $900 million
