Re: The BATMAN 200+ million OW CLUB
Presales for wednesday and beyond shows have started and PS is way better than anything not named No Way Home, its way slower than what I expected based on early imax sales couple of days ago. Of course not every big opener starts like NWH or Endgame and so we have to see how early reactions/reviews help with PS. But this is going to be a marathon than a sprint when it comes to PS. At this point this club has a chance but PS so far has not made it easy.

What will this seriously open with? I'm thinking $140-150m and then very good legs (it has no competition for the whole month).

Re: The BATMAN 200+ million OW CLUB *closed*
I would not be surprised at an opening only around the 90-110M range. It's the third person playing Batman in the last 10 years. As good as it looks, it's not fresh.

Re: The BATMAN 200+ million OW CLUB *closed*
Hard one to predict even a few weeks out. The Batman has had "this is going to be the Most Awesome Movie Ever" buzz ever since the day it was announced. So will the hopefully good reviews even help all that much?
I'll say $160M / $440M for now, but wouldn't be at all surprised if it reaches The Dark Knight's total instead of setling for Rises.

Most tracking has it around Venom. Given the marketplace I think it can shoot for 130-150. I needs to really clear 50+ OD but The marketing has been really weak surprisingly

Re: The BATMAN 200+ million OW CLUB *closed*
I used Venom as my based and thought $40-50m over that is likely just because it's Batman, has an open market and should get good reviews etc.

Reviews are going to be uber strong and I expect presales to explode starting tomorrow. Still not convinced by it hitting 200m(I am still sticking out as I dont want to bail out after looking at presales) but its going to have a strong run. I am expecting > 3x multi considering reviews, reactions from audience and open run its going to have over next 2 months.

Just as expected RT has started with 96%( 68 fresh and 3 Rotten) and 8.5/10 average rating. Metacritic is at 75 with 25 reviews.

Reviews are currently better than any Batman live action except Dark Knight. Let's see where it settles. I'm thinking 94% 7.9 avg rating

Still think it will be close to 150m than 200m but so happy that it’s getting great reviews and love the detective angle.

The reviews seem about on par with Batman Begins/TDKR. Which is probably what people expected. I don't see why this drives up ticket sales so much unless people were expecting a stinker.

Re: The BATMAN 200+ million OW CLUB *closed*
Still not convinced this will go much higher than $100m. It's just too soon for another reboot. If they had waited another 3-5 years then sure. But TDK trilogy is still not even 10 years out since it ended, and Justice League was less than 5 years ago.
Would be happy to be proven wrong though since it seems like it's a great film and big $$$ means sequels. I'm excited to see it next weekend.

I don't know if they would have to make Phoenix look like he's in his 60s to make it work timeline wise, but bringing in the Joker again for the 2nd movie would be massive again if this hits

Re: The BATMAN 200+ million OW CLUB *closed*
Reviews are definitely helping with PS which has seen a expected big increase. Lowest it can open at this point would be 130m. I think walkups will be great and this is having a humongous release and so thinking 150m+ and hopefully even take the March record. Let us see where things stand on thursday.

Re: The BATMAN 200+ million OW CLUB *closed*
Still hoping for the best, but still rather unsure here and would be pleasantly surprised if it comes in above $125 million. I know it's *expected* to, but that's my personal mark of success. Feel this is still going to be a grower.
Also, Warner Bros., Disney, Sony, Universal and Paramount have all paused theatrical releases in Russia (which includes The Batman). Not sure how much Russia could really contribute right now though with Visa and Mastercard cutting them off, Google and Apple Pay being disabled, and all the sanctions on their banks, etc.. Just something to consider regarding OS numbers for everything for some undetermined amount of time.

It is funny how Hollywood is (rightfully) boycotting Russia but happy to be doing business with China, who has done similar and worse than what Russia is doing now.

Studio pulled out of Russia with the mess its not going to do much plus ruble is worthless now. On top of it Russia is out of swift and so cannot even get the money out.
