Great for Scream. Superb hold for Sing 2. Also amazing for Licorice Pizza which drops just 10%.

Honestly that is crazy good for Scream. Kinda surprised they didn't put it on P+ last minute but good they didn't. Should gross 70m+ in US, 3x its budget.

Fantastic for Scream.
This will re-invigorate the franchise which it certainly deserves. I think it will hold well considering the emptiness of the coming weeks. A total not far off Scream 3 is possible.

Re: Weekend Estimates 1.14-1.17
Sing will end up pulling a 7+ weekend/total multiplier. Even with a Wed. opening and early release at home, it should get close to $150M which is great given the circumstances. Could go higher given the lack of family films until April.
Also just noticed that Sonic and Fantastic Beasts are opening within a week of each other. Given how fresh the HP anniversary special is, Fantastic Beasts really should move up.

Re: Weekend Estimates 1.14-1.17
My theater shut down today because of the snow storm. Numbers will be quite a bit lower than estimated since most of the East is getting wrecked.

It's a mess for sure. Dreading going out to clear the porch and walkway here soon. Looks like near 8-10 inches overtop however much ice is beneath all that... Blech. At least the power has remained on around me. Edit: Operation dig-out failed (started snowing again, so I gave up half way. )

$3.5M for Monday, $33.85M 4day. Stupid snow. This might lead to a better second weekend drop though!

Damn. Desperately hope that does indeed lead to a solid second weekend hold.

A total over $70m would be nice.

Honestly the worst I've ever seen a studio handle what was potentially a huge blockbuster. I thought Disney bungling Prince Caspian and killing what could've been their Harry Potter takes the cake but this is a whole other level.

Re: Weekend Estimates 1.14-1.17
If HBO Max was available worldwide, the same-day release strategy they did last year would have probably done alright as the box office loses could have been recovered/offset from a growing subscriber base. But it's not, and it's pricey in comparison to other streaming services which invites piracy in many markets. So they took a hit to their box-office prospects and streaming potential by not being able to grow their subscriber base...
I've seen HBO Max being advertised at 20% off twice in the last 2-3 months now. Not a good look. They'll probably continue to suffer for another year or so (apparently for a few more years in some parts of the world until their TV deals expire...) until they can tap into other markets. Just really bad timing combined with bad decisions.

Re: Weekend Estimates 1.14-1.17
According to The Numbers WB only has 9 wide releases this year, 5 of them being DC lol.
WB's top 5 domestic titles last year would be under $400m total. Will be interesting if The Batman is able to outdo that lol
