Also interesting to see #99 doing that well on this week's sales chart again (and barely dropping). Maybe it's being helped since Volumes 99-101 are unique and will complete a color spread cover and spine when together? Maybe some weren't aware of this when #99 was released and are picking it up now for their collections? And thanks for answering my question on the last page, Rouk'! And since MHA #32 is releasing in October, the series will definitely have its biggest year ever now.

Re: Weekly Manga Sales 2021
Very solid second week for OP, I guess the distribution issues shueisha has had in the past few months came into play here since I would've expected this volume to be more frontloaded instead which was not the case.
And yeah my prediction for MHA is definitely coming through at this point, the movie put in a lot of work for it.

Re: Weekly Manga Sales 2021
Any predictions for Tokyo Revengers #24 this week? The anime just wrapped up, and with half of the backlog breaking 1 million now, I'd imagine #24 *should* be looking at a large debut. But I'm also questioning how high because #23 had a rather soft debut of 222,000 back in July when the series had a good bit of hype with the movie opening and the backlog all at 600,000/700,000 with the series doing 1-1.5 million each week.
I would think #24 can manage a first week close to 500,000, but I also wouldn't be surprised if it comes in more around 300,000-400,000 (or roughly the same percentage of the total sales of the average backlog volume that #23 did back in July).

Re: Weekly Manga Sales 2021
Currently, on Rakuten, reservation for volume 24 is number 1. The spoiler for the chapter 233 is out. Fans are diverse now. The sales can sharply go up or drastically go down compared with volume 23 depend on how fans like or dislike this chapter.

Re: Weekly Manga Sales 2021
As a 3 days of sales it should be around 300-350k depends of the hype for this one ? It seems volume 23 is doing really great for this upcoming weekly ranking and this Is the only one of TR's volumes to be behind 900k with its 780k.

It is worth noting that volume 24's release pushed the backlog up in a strong manner, and it is probably going to be a stronger week than the most recent ones. However, it is only 3 days, and volume 23 still has not hit 800k (probably will this week, though). So a 500k first week is out of the question as of now, atleast with such little days. The rush factor hasn't seemed all that strong with toman as far as I can tell, as volume 23 is still quite far behind even 22 despite having been around for a few months now. I think it's going to be a little over 300k here, maybe 350k.

Re: Weekly Manga Sales 2021
More than 1,6M, also volume 23 is ranked 3rd in weekly Shoseki so it'll be around 100k and vol. 24 at 400k then.
DS and MHA are still doing really good and JjK finally out of top 10 !

I'm guessing the increase in DS sales are due to season 2 anime premiere soon. Good for it, the series in insane.

There has been a rebroadcast of season 1 recently, hence the growing sales. It's been doing increasingly well in ratings (from 14% to 16% iirc). The movie rebroadcast should push it even higher (both in terms of TV ratings and manga sales). And then, of course, season 2 will happen. The fight for the first place is far from over. JJK is already out of the top 10.

Re: Weekly Manga Sales 2021
In the tug war for the 1st Oricon position, JJK currently has two advantages: + Volume 17 in October + 8-9 weeks left before Oricon 2021 finished, so Kimetsu needs to turn the tide fast. Let's see how things will go when Season 2 comes.

Yeah looks like the race is back on but I still think Jjk has the advantage but that's not saying much because KnY finished last year!

Re: Weekly Manga Sales 2021
Actually JjK is 800k above DS and sells like 60k/week and it'll loose 100-200k max until vol 17 release ? With a 1,5M+ sales for vol 17 and a boost for its backlog DS must sells around 3M to be back at the top I guess. So quite difficult to do but who knows... DS surprised us anytimes after all. ^^'

Btw, did they lift the one person per volume restriction for KnY? It's been awhile since then so it might've get lifted already

Re: Weekly Manga Sales 2021
Huh, actually quite a bit surprised with how off I was with TR. I guess I was wrong about the rush factor.

Re: Weekly Manga Sales 2021
Haven't read Tokyo Revengers yet. Is it looking to be a longer series, or is it closer to wrapping up either soon or in the next couple years? Or has the author not made any comments on the matter?

It's probably going to be the longest arc in the series, fitting to be the last arc. Judging from the pacing, I'd say 50-100 chapters left (or somewhere between that range)

Re: Weekly Manga Sales 2021
October will be boring with TR, DS and JjK within top 50...^^' DS's back already since few days ago thanks to its announcements and broadcast. Vol 23 and maybe more should be in top 50 with the next weekly Oricon ranking. The good thing is that we'll see how far DS sales are. Edit : About DS sales I think it'll be around 250k too. So almost 283k ^^ : https://twitter.com/WSJ_manga/status/1443105045470384132?s=19The "battle" for yearly top 1 will be interesting...

Re: Weekly Manga Sales 2021
Any prediction for the sales of Kimetsu between 9/20-9/26? Shoseki showed a drastic surge for all volumes the past weekend. I estimate Oricon will report the sales around 250k tomorrow.

Re: Weekly Manga Sales 2021
Good prediction, MSFK!
The race for #1 of 2021 is going to be much closer than expected. Only 8 weeks to go.
Jujutsu Kaisen will, presumably, add up to 2 million or so with Volume 17 (releases on Oct. 4th, so 6 full weeks on the charts), and when the trailer and marketing starts for the movie, we could see it receive a slight bump for backlog sales before the Oricon year ends (although Volume 0 isn't counted in the series' total...). So, probably looking at around 32 million?
Demon Slayer will need to average around 475,000 each week to exceed 32 million, so it's Jujutsu Kaisen's year to lose still it seems, but who knows if DS's Season 2 can drive sales somehow higher. If JJK ends up closer to 31 million, then DS will need to average around 350,000 each week to exceed 31 million.

Re: Weekly Manga Sales 2021
Anyone know if the first-print run for JJK #17 has been announced yet, by the way?
#16 got 1.5 million and sold 1.165 million (77.7%) in its first 3-days. #17 is releasing on a Monday, so it has a 7-day first week in store, so another 1.5 million first-print run may not be enough, or is going to leave the majority of stores super short/sold out before the weekend.
