Re: Summer 2021 predictions
Black Widow tickets are on sale but no premium showings available yet in my area... same for F9. That's annoying

Re: Summer 2021 predictions
Very very curious how The Suicide Squad does. It very much seems like America is turning a corner with the pandemic and Black Widow is looking at a huge debut. If TSS opens with less than $45m oop. WB really should've maybe done their slate on a movie by movie basis.

Re: Summer 2021 predictions
TSS will flop. Gunn is not that big of a draw and rest of the cast is not really known. Plus it's too early for a reboot. Regardless of the release date this would have struggled.

I thought I was careful by only using Gunn's name there

Re: Summer 2021 predictions
Old from the director of The Sixth Sense, The Visit, and Split might be a surprise hit. As long as it gets great reviews and reception from audiences, I wouldn't be surprised if this grossed $100m.

Re: Summer 2021 predictions
Its still hard to get $100m in the market. Let's keep the bar at Tenet's BO or maybe lower at $50m for all movies going forward.

I wonder how good black widow presales are. Just bought tickets for 7:30 Thursday night and less than half the auditorium is sold.

Re: Summer 2021 predictions
They took out social distancing at AMC and now the Dolby screening I have for F9 is full... idk if I feel comfortable. I liked having the room around me tbh, I might cancel my ticket and opt for an empty showing sigh

No, I do not expect social distancing to last forever but I think it's reasonable for me to be uncomfortable. *shrug*

Though I think if you’re fully vaccinated you’re about as protected as you’ll ever be. But it’s definitely understandable to struggle to go back to normal. I haven’t had to worry though since In the heights was empty haha despite being sat to 100%. My first experience in a relatively full theater will be Black Widow.

Re: Summer 2021 predictions
I think the second weekend drop for F9 will be lighter than average for the franchise since I expect many virus worried people in NY and LA are still taking a wait and see approach as mask mandates and social distancing are ending.

Re: Summer 2021 predictions
I'm honestly really surprised Jungle Cruise is looking to be a pandemic hit. I thought it'd do 70m at best. Look at Emily Blunt getting 2 100m pics during the pandemic lol

Jungle Cruise (and Free Guy) looks like that mindless fun movie that have broad appeal to audience at this point..

Re: Summer 2021 predictions
Old is looking like it could get close to 3x multiplier. Color me surprised, I thought WoM would be terrible. Makes me think Candyman has potential to do well.

If it had opened better it could have reached $80m.... Oh well.

What's going on with Candyman... no tickets on sale yet. Seems like it'll do well if Old is holding good.

Re: Summer 2021 predictions
Don't know how Candyman will do but it definitely is a known IP, it's yet to be seen if that would translate well at BO.
