Re: The 17th Annual World of KJ Awards Ceremony!
It was once said that Music Make You Lose Control. Yet in the movie business it is almost the opposite. The music keeps control over the proceedings on screen, often times letting the viewer know things that not even the writers can say. How many heart-breaking moments would work if there wasn't any music to encourage our tears? Would we be that excited about seeing 100 people get killed to only the sounds of silencers? I don't think so.
The nominees for Best Original Score are:
-Mank -Nomadland -Soul -Tenet -Wolfwalkers

Closer than I would have imagined considering how popular (and downright incredible) Soul's soundtrack has been. Tenet was two votes behind and Wolfwalkers three.
Oooh we're in the big eight now ain't we? Unless I forgot something lol.
Next up will be .... Best Supporting Actor. Yeah let's do this.

Re: The 17th Annual World of KJ Awards Ceremony!
Supporting actors aren't supposed to steal the show, but they usually do, and that's why we love them.
The nominees for Best Supporting Actor are:
-Bo Burnham (Promising Young Woman) -Sacha Baron Cohen (The Trial Of The Chicago 7) -Hugh Grant (The Gentlemen) -Daniel Kaluuya (Judas And The Black Messiah) -Paul Raci (Sound Of Metal)
And the KJ goes to...

Yay! Kaluuya really deserves it and I do not overall like him but the other candidates were so weak it's not even a competition

Re: The 17th Annual World of KJ Awards Ceremony!
I was the only one who voted for Hugh Grant, but I'm just glad he got others to patron him in the nomination process. Very funny guy.
Kaluuya deserves this though. Not just for this film, but all the work he's done over the past four years to make himself into a legit A-lister.
Bo Burnham came in second, three votes behind.
Next up will be Best Supporting Actress!

Re: The 17th Annual World of KJ Awards Ceremony!
Second year in a row a Korean actress has taken this award. I really need to see Minari, but refuse to pay $20 for rentals now that theaters are kinda back. Hopefully it will offer a Buy option one of these days.
Yuh-jong won this by two votes over Maria.
Next up will be Best Adapted Screenplay!

Adapting someone else's work be tough. But if you do it right the results can be so juicy for both professional respect and big phat bank accounts.
The nominees for Best Adapted Screenplay are:
-Borat Subsequent Movie Film -I'm Thinking Of Ending Things -The Invisible Man -Ma Rainey's Black Bottom -Nomadland

They took a story that everybody knows and made it into something completely different and perfect for the modern era. Can't ask for a better adaptation than that.
Black Bottom was 3 votes behind.
Next is going to be Best Acting Ensemble!

Re: The 17th Annual World of KJ Awards Ceremony!
Great pick by us. On the surface PYW probably seems like a one-woman show. But the little roles, like McLovin and Alfred Molina, are a big reason why the movie has been so well received.
It was soooo close though. Black Bottom, Da 5 Bloods and The Gentlemen were all only one vote behind!!
Best Original Screenplay is next.

Re: The 17th Annual World of KJ Awards Ceremony!
I wish I had the history of the screenplay categories, but they weren't saved in the main thread and I didn't have time to look them. So I have to make up some new shit for this introduction. Now I know how original screenplay writers feel....
The nominees for Best Original Screenplay are:
-The King Of Staten Island -Palm Springs -Promising Young Woman -Soul -Tenet -The Trial Of The Chicago 7
