The trailer clearly outlines magic and sorcery but I don't think any of that is offensive or red alert for kids.

I doubt anything in the film is directly offensive to kids. Just a question of what values are important to parents. I'm proceeding with caution unless I hear word from my more liberal friends that I am being too critical.

LOL it's a "spell" they cast to spend one more day with their dad.

Magic is nothing new for Disney but sometimes I wonder what Walt would think now. The Owl House would have him turning in his grave (or is his head still an ice cube, I can't remember).

Yeah but didn’t religious folk murder like thousands of innocent women because they didn’t yet realize witches weren’t real? I think you can throw Onward a few bucks to make up for that. :)

Anyways, prospects for this are looking down, but I’m still optimistic because it’s an easy sell. What if the world was run by mythical creatures? Coco’s main appeal was that it hammered our emotions for like an hour straight- how do you put that in a trailer? So while I could see Onward going full Dinosaur and opening under $40M, I still think it will do $55-60M unless coronavirus becomes a problem in America before next Thursday.

The trailer mentions that the spell was left by their father to spend the time with his kids. I really don't see how that is a problem at all. Even for religious group of people. I'm sure people read a lot of magic stuffs to their kids.

Religious people don't like the Disney Channel logo because the Disney Channel stars draw it with a magic wand.

The vast majority of religious folk can discern between demon influenced witchcraft and magical plot devices in children's fantasy stories.

This is true. Jesus performed miracles, which at the time were interpreted by many as magic. I'm not suggesting Onward is demonic but it has generated some chatter in religious circles.
