 Re: Production Budgets
Maybe they will get $60m worth of tax rebates It will be profitable overall but damn that's a HUGE budget.

I’m all for girl power but wtf are these studios thinking? Just sell it to Netflix at that point.

Good budget, especially since it looks like OS may be poor. Hoping it manages 300m+ WW.

Ya that's pretty ridiculous. Guessing just the CGI for the dog was half that.

What a disaster. 2020 has had the most absurd budgets for these lower mid-tier movies and we’re not even done with the second month. I hope studios don’t get even more discouraged about funding original films because of these floppers.

 Re: Production Budgets
After the 170M budget for Dumbo, nothing can shock me.
It's also funny how they spent dozens of millions on a CGI dog that will probably keep quite a few potential moviegoers away from the movie.

 Re: Production Budgets
Disney is really bad in controlling budgets.
Good budget for Bloodshot and The Way Back though the later will bomb even with that budget. I don't think The Hunt will make back its budget as well

I don't think The Hunt will make back its budget as well I think both TWB & The Hunt will double their budgets at the domestic box office totally agree with Disney going crazy with their budgets. I think with the new CEO there will be better control over budgets.

 Re: Production Budgets
I think theatrically they won't but overall the budget is snap enough for them to double their budget and I don't think marketing for TH and TWB cost much

 Re: Production Budgets
Yeah $21m-$25m is a bit too much for movies like these in this market. To get them past $60m domestic or around $75m WW is a bit too difficult now. It should make money for them in the end with streaming and home media sales.
