Star Wars Episode III Sold Out Report.
With only a month away, and advance tickets now on sale, I thought it would be interesting to get the nationwide (and worldwide) sell outs. I remember we had a thread like this for the Passion, so now we do the same thing to this. Note, that this is for advance tickets sold and not a crowd report, so let's see how fast it's sells out at your local theaters. This will be very interesting I must say.
So, report are Sold Out reports here.
(I repeat, this is not a crowd report thread).

Probably you were a lot younger then, ID4 in 1996 (Dallas and other Metro areas) and TPM in 1999 (AMC 30 in Olathe and AMC 24 Northwoods, Kansas City area) had shows at 3:00 and 4:00 AM.

I have to concur with Vasquez, I've worked at my location and saw TPM when I wasn't working there and there have Never been 3 or 4 am showings for any film. I personally find that type of showtime absolutely ridiculous even if it is just a 1 time even. Their workers probably don't even get OT pay for such ridiculous hours.

Actually, my dad saw a 3:00 showing of ID4 at the Spectrum. My theater wasn't open when ID4 opened, and we did not book TPM (due to that one theater booking rule back then, meaning that either my theater, or the Century 2 miles aways got all the prints. In this case, the Century got all the prints. This rule discontinued late 99, when we started to share the prints).

Scott, Just like your dad, I saw ID4 at 2:30 AM. I saw TPM at 1:00 AM.
Did your theater open on 12/19/1997 (Titanic/Tomorrow Never Dies). I was curious, since AMC opened a 20, 24 and 30 screen theaters in Kansas City area on that day.

My local theater (AMC Southlake 24) has one show at 12:01 Thursday, and the next shows at 10:00 AM Thursday. This is odd as even during the summer the theater does not open before 11:30. Thus far none of the shows are sold out.

No, it did not open till November 1998, when Enemy of the State opened.

Saw a 4 am show of ID4 in Houston (had a show every 30 mins ), was a blast nothing but drunks from the clubs, also saw a 3am of TPM...that late the movie for some reason gets alot better :alc:

Personally, I think this is going a bit overboard with 4:00AM showings.. I mean come on, who in their right mind is going to stay up til 4:00 AM to see a movie, putting hardcore fanatics aside???

No one, but Star Wars has one of the largest hardcore fanatic followings. The 4:00AM showing might not sell out there, but a couple of those showings will.

4a.m. is too late (or is it early?) for me. I like the midnight showings because they are always jam packed and people hoot and holler and have a blast. so much fun.

Same here. If I had a choice, I'd see every movie at midnight. Love it when it's sold out.
But, my friends don't go at midnight, so I only go with my dad at midnight. With friends, it's around 7PM.
Anyways, I'll be there on the first day for Episode III. =D>

Jesus that's a lot of sessions. How many screens is that at your theatre? The most I know of in my city is a 13-screen complex and it's showing Sith on at these times in the early hours of the morning:
12:00am, 12:00am (IMAX screen), 1:00am, 3:00am, 4:00am, 5:00am (IMAX screen)
And I thought THAT was a lot.
The good thing is, because of time zones, I get to see it before most of you \:D/

I know it's the last Star Wars and it appears to be what folks wanted the 1st one to be back in 1999 and wasn't, but the amount of times there showing this, on the hour, by the hour, around the clock will quickly diminish once theatre owners or managers realize that showing a movie at 4:00 AM in the morning is a bit on the overkill side.. People do have to go to work you know and I couldn't imagine being up all nigt til 4:00AM to see a movie only to turn around and go to work after it was over and the sunlight came up.. I don't care how good it is or could be.. That's blowing it out of proportion a tad bit..

I know my theatre's only doing that on opening day. After that they're sticking to 10am onwards sessions.
I wouldn't even contemplate going to a session that early - I'm waiting till early afternoon which is about the same time as people seeing it at midnight in the US except without the tiredness.

My local theater isn't showing at midnight, but here was one right down the highway (20 minutes or so) with a 12:01 showing. Most of the theater around me just have the midnight showing. Even the Mills, which I would think would have at least two showings. But meh. I'm definitely seeing the midnight show, and I'm half considering skipping school to see it again. I'll have to talk to my other friends.
For the record, if I had car and/r the friends who would sit throw it with me, I'd totally see the 4:00 AM show even after the midnight show. But alas, none are in my area.
I did find a theater with a show at midnight (only sold out show in my area), another at 6:30, then it picks up at regular intervals at 9:30.

ID4 was the last film I know to have round the clock showtimes. It was wild.
