 Re: Who Will Be President?
Seriously. You're a fucking idiot. Did you think she would match THE FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT'S black turnout from 2012? You're so clueless. It's down, but around normal Democratic black voting, which is still insanely lopsided. Also, latino voting for her is WAY up from Obama. So...
Maybe just shut the fuck up.

 Re: Who Will Be President?
She has massive cash advantages, inherited enormous infrastructure from Obama campaigns, good will with independents from Obama Presidency, had one of the greatest conventions in history and the most dominant 3 debate performance on record.
But here she is, tanking in the polls yet again. Trump looks likely to win in Ohio, Florida is 50/50 at best and leaning his way, the gaps are shrinking in NC and Colorado, and Trump unquestionably has all the momentum.
That 110% true and you know it. It is not good.

Keep coming back to this. Assuming she holds Pennsylvania and Michigan, then the race effectively ends with North Carolina if she wins it. Trying to reassure myself.

I'm honestly in Excel's boat, I'm terrified this guy has a real chance to win. I've never gotten so worked up over an election before in my life.

 Re: Who Will Be President?
What do you actually think would happen if Trump were president? It's not like people are going to be burned at the stake for not being a white straight man. Anything too weird would not be ratified. It's not like he'd be a dictator. The country might suffer a bit, but life would go on relatively normally.

 Re: Who Will Be President?
If this election has shown us anything, it's that we as a country are more divided than ever before. Under a Trump presidency, this will only become more so. People are showing that their racism, homophobia, etc. is "ok" because they see a presidential nominee spewing hate. He has said he disagrees with the Supreme Court ruling the Marriage Equality act and that it should have been left up to the states to decide, he can overturn that if he puts the people in the Supreme Court that he wants. We'll go back to the coat hanger technique for abortions because they'll be illegal under a Trump presidency. He also agrees with a $7.25 minimum wage.
Under a Trump presidency, we will be more racially divided than ever before and that's scary. The fact that he has this much support is scary and the fact that he has a chance of winning this election is scary. Hell, the fact he even got this far is scary. The fact that he's running is STILL a running joke. Is that what you want America to be?

The fact that he's running is STILL a running joke. Is that what you want America to be? No, I just am an optimist. I have faith in democracy. I have no issue with gays wanting to get married. I only believe abortion is okay in the case of rape, and only before the infant is aware of itself. I also think 7.25 is an acceptable minimum wage because the people getting paid that should be teens and old people where it's not their main income. I don't think people deserve 10.25 an hour starting to bag groceries. Also, racists and sexists are a small minority and that won't change under a Trump presidency. Everything you say could be true. But there is no reason to move to Canada yet. Plus, Hillary will win. I know I'm not supporting Trump. If others do, oh well, but the polling still skews heavily in Hillarys favor. If he does somehow win, there is also a chance he will be impeached or resign. The majority of Trump supporters are just Republicans who can't stand not to vote for their party, they would rather have any Republican president rather than further the liberal agenda, or because they hate Hillary more. Most do not think of themselves as racists or sexists, they are simply falling for Trump's deceptions.

 Re: Who Will Be President?
The country has definitely been more divided before than it is now. A vote for Trump is for a great many a vote against the corruption and DC insider they see Hillary as. Obama v Trump in 2016 would see O net 400 EC votes.

I'm completely freaked out about the prospect of a Trump presidency too, but panicking just seems like wasted energy at this point. Organize, volunteer, VOTE. I'm spending my entire Sunday canvassing and going door to door for the Hillary campaign.

Speaking of campaigning, I signed up on Hillary's website to volunteer and call people. It's super easy and a great way to help our Hills.

 Re: Who Will Be President?
Also, I think it's perfectly acceptable to be nervous. Just today the Clinton campaign sent me SIX emails about how close the race is and asking me to call even more people and give donations.

Excel's OMG THE SKY IS FALLING PANIC PANIC PANIC PANIC PANIC!!!!!!! routine does no one any good, though. A pollster called TargetSmart did a poll tracking early voting in Florida, and apparently Hillary is significantly ahead in the poll, and 28% of Republicans who responded said they voted for her. I don't really know anything about this tracker, but if it's at all accurate, that's very good news.

I don't really know anything about this tracker, but if it's at all accurate, that's very good news. She is expected to dominate early voting. Whether or not she is doing so to the level needed to win the state is a different story. We all hope so wins. But her campaign is arrogant beyond belief. And to an extent, sickening. The Donna Brazile story is awful.

 Re: Who Will Be President?
I would just like to say how much I love and am going to throughly miss Barack Obama. I would pay an enormous amount of money to have him run again, and again, and again...pure class, through and through. movies35 wrote: Also, I think it's perfectly acceptable to be nervous. They're realizing how stupid pulling out of Colorado and going into Arizona was. Podesta is a total moron.

 Re: Who Will Be President?
Well, I've done my part for Operation Turn Texas Blue. I used Ballotpedia to decide my other votes, though it didn't cover the local elections in enough detail. IMO if you don't pay attention to down-ballot issues and midterm elections, you're shouldn't complain when the person you like doesn't get the nomination.
For what it's worth, I felt more detached with the previous presidential election. But I think that has more to do with political coming-of-age and realizing that your vote is supposed to be a suboptimum.
