See so many people think the first hour is boring but I don't think so. Has anyone rewatched the first Avengers? That had a pretty slow first half.

I actually think the first half is the only time the film works. It build and builds all these stories and then none of them are resolved or even combined to anything cohesive.

The Avengers is boring. Most superhero movies are.

The first hour of THE AVENGERS is flat, but the first hour of BATMAN V SUPERMAN is actively terrible.

I also think the first half of building-up works in BvS more than the resolutions in second half which feels forced and rushed to get the final destruction porn. Also the titular fight lasts 5 minutes and much of it has already been teased in the trailers which is always a bummer.

Yep, ran a Google image search. Same kid. Guess he didn't open his mouth with his buck teeth while falling down. That would've been the giveaway.

Thanks, pal!

BvS is.....Awesometacular!

that is what I'll be posting on the 27th after I see it ;)

Finally saw it....and it may not be the best CB movie ever....but it comes damn close.
The fights were straight out of the comics and I loved it. WW & Supes taking on Doomsday was orgasmic.
OMG! Now I really can't wait for JL. Keep Snyder for both part 1 & 2. His visual style is made for this.
Fuck the haters BvS is a great fucking film.
The 3 hours directors cut is going to be even better. :D
Oh & Batfleck killed it. Can't wait for more of him in the DCU.

Now I gotta see it again in couple hours....this time in glorious IMAX.

:2thumbsup: :1st:

Post Re: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
Yes, the Thor scene was pointless in Age of Ultron, but there are so so so many more flaws in Batman v Superman.

I saw it again today. Strong parts were even stronger, weak parts even weaker. I hate pretty much everything after the battle between Batman and Superman, except for Wonder Woman's entrance and "her" music.

Today some people in the audience laughed outloud during the "Martha! Martha? Martha"-scene. The motivation shift in Batman is beyond ridiculous. It is pathetic. The whole build-up to their scene worked and then they just fucked it up.

Also, fighting a random CGI ork - even if it is Doomsday - is just not exciting. At all. Sure, the Avengers battled faceless random enemies in both of their films at the end, but:

1. Those were actually the weaker parts of the film

and

2. The main baddies were better (Loki and Ultron) than Doomsday

and

3. At least set during daylight, the battle scenes looked way better.

Jesus, I outright hate the final 20-30 minutes. It is mostly solid before that, except for the idiotic "Knightmare". I had prior knowledge, understood what I saw and it still didn't make much sense (The Flash can travel through time, but he does not have telepathic abilities). To those who saw it with me - with minimal prior knowledge of the comics - it was just a confusing scene that made no sense in the context of the film. That's shoddy directing/editing.

4. And is still somewhat entertaining because the Avengers are there.

Those scenes are especially helped out by the fact that there have been many films that have come before in the universe and we've grown to like each character for various reasons. They could face tennis balls and I'd still be interested.

As much as I don't like the movie, I looooooooooooved this moment. It almost makes up for the logical gap that Superman wouldn't just give the spear to Wonder Woman, especially since she had been holding her own, but he had to do something heroic at some point.

DC fanboy and Affleck's buddy Kevin Smith didn't like the film

Quote:
Remember before when we were talking about Flash, and that it has heart, humor, and spectacle. The movie I felt like didn't really have a heart. It was certainly f--king humorless, there was nothing funny going on in that world whatsoever, but it had lots of spectacle.

Like you can't take that away from Snyder. Boy, he knows how to like compose a frame and how to setup a shot. Beautiful visual stylist but you need more than just the pictures, you need like characterization and these characters seemed off character, particularly Superman... But, uh, you know, I'm happy that the DC Universe is going… I guess?

Ouch...?

Magnus...He saves a rocket and hovers above a family on top of a roof. Whoopdee-fucking-do.

Also, the scene where he saves the girl from the burning building in Mexico, why couldn't we see him doing that instead of the aftermath? That would've been an awesome 30 second scene.

Snyder has an aversion is heroism, at least when it comes to Superman. Which brings up another point. The movie tells us that most of the world has fallen in love with Superman over the 18 months. Why? All the audience gets is a measly montage.

Exactly what it means, though I'll slightly disagree with him. There were one or two funny lines. :|

Listening to the podcast where this quote came from, he really meant that the film was joyless. To be fair to Smith though, this was said before he saw it a second time where he said he enjoyed it more, before it was stopped because of a fight.

I didn't find the cape line funny at all.

The only amusing lines came from Jeremy Irons.

Is that because it only comes minutes after seeing those really disturbing photos of Ma Kent tied up like they were out of a snuff film?

This fucking movie. :disgust:

That's because you're German. We don't need to go over this again. I laughed at at least 4-5 scenes in this. Mostly Irons.

1) "I figured" was hilarious and everybody LOLd hard both times I have seen it.

2) Luthor was cracking up my audience, especially when he has his face pressed against the glass door as he is lowered in the Krptonion ship, and when he yells "we have trouble up here!".

3) "Oh shit" kills it.

and finally...

4) Perry Black was cracking up both audience.

"No leg room"
"We cant afford a bicycle!"

The humor here was fine. It was an issue with MOS. DC will never have any "Hulk randomly punches Thor" moments. Be happy with "Oh shit".

UNintentional humor? Batman not being to able to shit other than grapple away when Doomsday turns on him. Theater LOLd here too.

Serious question. What would qualify as "heroism" to you? I know Superman has not an iconic "plane scene" esque rescue under Snyder, but he has done plenty of good.

You and others really just do not want to like this movie. It's embarrassing.

WW clearly wasn't holding her own, LOL - she could barely get near him. WW held him with her laso for Supes to take him out.

If this had been directed by some artsy emo dude who the internet viewed as "one of them", the same film would be chilling around 70% and most would say it is "OK" with a few LOVING it and a lot less hating it.

If the montage had included Donald Trump saying "He is an illegal, and I want him out, period, gone, go back home bye bye", it would be at 90% RT.
