 Re: Who Will Be President?
Hillary had a great night, she is going to win now. I am glad Kasich won. I hope there is a contested convention it will be awesome to see.

i.hope wrote: Clinton's win tonight in Ohio was expected. She's been getting lopsided media coverage over Sanders on both national and local levels in Ohio. The last time I saw Sanders on the front page of any political news sites was the night of the Flint, Michigan debate, while Clinton received way more headlines about her campaign rallies. If we are to have competitive and informative elections, the media need to be fairer to the candidates and report on the arguments on the candidates and issues. Elections are not just about cheering and shouting and scripted speeches at the campaign rallies. More on election coverage: I hope the media do not treat viewers as dumb. Please refrain from using only "win/lose" when reporting election results. This does not help people understand the electoral process. Report the delegate count breakdown in each state result. Also distinguish delegates from superdelegates/unbounded delegates.

 Re: Who Will Be President?
The Republican party is a mess. It seems likely there will be a contested convention. Trump would have to win 60% of the delegates going forward in order to clinch the nomination. Cruz then is in an even worse position. And finally Kasich has no possibility of clinching the nomination, and his continued presence in the race muddies Cruz' ability to make this a one-on-one race. You'll notice that tonight in his speech he had to continue to try to convince everyone that it is only a two-way race, despite the fact that Rubio has dropped out.
Moreover, the Republican party is clearly in a bind, as they either have to accept Trump as the nominee come the convention, or reject him as the nominee, and that is just a lose-lose situation.
And while everyone is focusing on Trump as being someone who is hateful and bigoted, this isn't really saying much when Cruz is also a terrible and bigoted human being. I mean, my gosh, I can't believe these are the two choices for the Republican nominee. What a disgrace, seriously.
Peace, Mike

Cruz was pretty scary tonight in his speech. Trump obviously puts the world at greater risk of destruction with his short temper and sensitivity (just imagine if China comments on his small hands while Trump has the full access of the military).
However, Cruz is much scarier on a realistic scale with his passionate unwillingness to compromise. Really? You want to repeal EVERY single word of Obamacare?

 Re: Who Will Be President?
It's pretty set for the Hillary vs. Trump matchup. both had as good a night as they could have expected, and with a lot of winner-take-all states remaining, Trump could in fact get enough delegates before convention. May clinch it in CA. And even if he doesn't, he will be very close to the delegates count, and it'll be political suicide for GOP to take the nomination from him then.

Yes, Cruz is more ideologically driven. He has some hardliner soundbites. But I don't take his word at face value.
Between Trump, Cruz, and Clinton, who is bet against by vested interest?

 Re: Who Will Be President?
Clinton came from behind the slim lead Sanders had throughout most of the night in Missouri and managed to pull off the victory there, sweeping the day.
Looking at the remaining contests in March, and then in April (and giving her ~40% of the delegates in the majority of the states until New York, April 19th), Clinton might be capable of reaching 2,383 delegates on April 26th. All five states voting then will be closed primaries, so she'll perform very well that night; or, at the very least, come very close (2,200 or so) and cross the threshold in early May in Indiana or West Virginia. There are still a couple hundred undeclared superdelegates to still consider as well.
Sanders is spending a lot of money, $4 million alone just over the past weekend ($12 million since March 8th), with plans of having $500,000 worth of TV ads in Arizona this week. He has raised a lot of money, so hopefully he considers using a lot of that in supporting Democrats this year in their attempt to make significant gains in the House and Senate.

Choosing between Trump and Cruz is akin to choosing between different strains of Ebola. Trump is an obnoxious, dangerous blowhard. Cruz has the world's most punchable face and is probably the creepiest person I've ever seen in politics. I actually miss Mitt Romney.

Hillary gonna slay.
Also, I'm not looking forward to at least 4 more years of defending a President. But I'm gonna do it! The White Republicans worst nightmare is about to happen, a black president being followed by a female president.
I hope the next Dem nominee is an anchor baby.

 Re: Who Will Be President?
At least Cruz is more consistent and truthful. Trump is far worse with him trying to impose stronger "libel" suits and his past use of eminent domain just to get what he wants. I guess hes so thin skinned that he cannot take any criticism or jab at himself that he has to impose more libel laws. Elected, we would get a more fascist government while lowering rights to almost every minority group. I notice that every time he attacks a country, its usually non-white with him blaming Mexico,China, Korea ,and um yeah Japan (as if they were any threat to the US economically in the past decade)

Generalizations are fine if they are a defining characteristic of the thing you are describing. Perhaps not everyone who supports Trump supports everything he says, but they must make that decision fully aware of the implications of what he believes. It's as fair as ever to say bigotry describes such things as banning Muslims from travel. And if you don't think that, or associating yourself with that, can be called bigotry, please explain why not. I think that some are stupid and probably dont understand the consequences of supporting the guy. They may not also believe he'll follow through with some of the things he has said. That speaks to some pretty misplaced priorities. I'm not blaming them, it reflects the broader culture. I would treat them equally to anyone else who contributes to these problems. I actually have a problem with using such words as 'bigots', because it denies people's agency. However bad someone's ideas may be, I still respect the fact that they are human, with all the motivations and desires that come with it. What's really needed is an environment in which bad ideas are not rewarded and good ideas are.

If it takes Trump to freak out vested interests in the government and to scare conservatives and liberals enough to start caring more about issues and rights instead of partisan bs, I hope Trump will be president.

What is bad about "partisan bs"? People have legitimate disagreements about the best way to govern and policies that should be implemented. Person A: I want to build a bridge. Person B: I don't want to build a bridge. Pragmatist: Why don't you stop your partisan bs and build half a bridge?

You mean by replacing it with fascist government. He was already suing people before over trivial stuff such as reporting him being worth 5 billion rather than 25 billion. Now he said he wants to strengthen the libel laws if he becomes POTUS, no journalist can report any of his wrong doings.

 Re: Who Will Be President?
The only reason I would want trump to get elected is that it would provide the potential for a great dramedy if done right. But the four-year sacrifice is not worth that movie. Besides, there is probably already enough material.
