Predict now - who will be our 2016 president?
Just curious where everyone's thinking the election will go this November.

Call me crazy, but I still think Bernie will take it. He does better in polling against Trump than Hillary does (along with the other Republican candidates too).
Beyond polling (which I don't know how much we can rely on anyways), he appeals to the young, old, and middle class Democrats who might just give him the nomination over Clinton. All I'm hoping from him is getting us closer to national health care and restructuring election rules, both of which would be huge for the US.

I think the Republicans will actually push back less against Bernie. So I really hope for him. I think we're in for another 8 years of gridlock with Hillary.

Right. And I agree. Bernie has been trending up lately, but it might be too late to get the nomination.

Unless Bernie Wins like Ronald Reagan in 1980, there is no reason why the GOP will magically allow Bernie to pass something more bigger then Obamacare.
Are you guys really that deluded..

If you don't think Sanders is too old, do you think a 78-year old would be too old? Afterall he'd be just four years older? No. Would an 82-year old be too old? Afterall he'd be just four years older than the 78-year old. And so on. I believe 74 would make him by far the oldest US-president at inaguration, no? And if he is to serve two full terms, he'd be well over 80 by the time he is done.

lol That is my point, if he wins the democrats better take back the house because he won't get anything he wants done. If he wins, I feel like he will be a one term president because you will have so many disillusioned people when he fails at all his proposals. At least with Hilary, she is very savy and will attempt to work with other side and is more likely to have a second term.

From what I've read, he's willing to present his clean bill of health from his doctor. If the Pope cam get it done, so can the president. Also, since Reagan was the oldest president ever elected at 69, Trump would take the record as well, while Hilary would be close.

Re: Predict now - who will be our 2016 president?
I believe there are still many people who have little idea of who Sanders is. Awareness is low. Once he wins the first primaries, people will start to notice him. People will reject Clinton who is seen as an establishment figure with too much baggage from the past.
Trump will win Republican nomination with his bland but populist message and his all-American ego. He will beat Sanders the socialist.

Re: Predict now - who will be our 2016 president?
There is no way Trump wins. He will lose the Hispanic vote by 80%, will lose the women vote by big numbers, and lose African-American, Asian, and muslim vote big time as well. He can't win with just angry white men. There is no way that neo-fascist, authoritarian, blowhard will win.

Re: Predict now - who will be our 2016 president?
Yeah, unless the democratic nominee splits votes with the independent, or does something batshit insane, there's no way Trump wins. He's not going to get 100% of the Rep vote, and he would get less than 50% of the Ind vote.

Re: Predict now - who will be our 2016 president?
I also see many Republicans staying home if he is their nominee, look at what the National Review magazine said today. The only way trump could win is if either like you said a 3rd party split the vote or if there is very low turnout. If the turnout is 2012 (which really wasn't that high) then either Sanders or Clinton will win.

Unfortunately, the economy could tank at any moment and Dems screwed up big time in 1968 and 2000 the last 2 times the came off two Democratic Presidential terms. Dems tend to overestimate the popularity of certain issues or candidates and underestimate the effort to overcome certain opposition or unpopular opponents. I was biking last Saturday around Hampton Roads and places that had Clinton/Gore stickers in the 1990s now have Trump "Make America Great Again" bumper stickers. He couldn't win the Republican nomination according to last Summer's polls, and now he is leading by enough to get the nomination. I still don't think he is able to keep his lead through to the convention. However if he does get the nomination, he can switch in the general and sound much more centrist and pragmatic. Americans voters suffer from the highest rate of Dunning-Kruger effect in the known world and would love to bestow our most famous sufferer with the highest elected office in the land.

Re: Predict now - who will be our 2016 president?
It is no longer the Rep/Dem divide like four years ago. Most people are angry at the two major parties. They are ready to tear down the parties in the presidential election. Trump so far has been able to gauge the national sentiment and magnify it.

There is still a very big divide democrats aren't voting for Trump, and as I said you have the hispanic vote to count for which will do him in. There is no way that Trump will win, Aliens invading ismore likely.
