This must be fun, but the jokes in the trailer all fall flat on me. The actual series is hopefully a lot better.

That sums up the movie, so much talent but such horrible set ups and bizarre jokes. Meloni was the only character that was really funny, looks to be the case here too. Though Coopers loving gaze at the end did make me laugh.

Looks pretty bad and I've all but given up on Netflix originals making something I like at this point (not counting Arrested Development).
Reviews are really good. I'll check it out. I found the movie absurdly funny when it first came out. Watched it again last summer and didn't know what I was thinking. Didn't like it much at all then. Kind of a mixed bag.

This is completely absurd and wonderful because of it. I'm happily surprised at how much the bigger stars are involved.

I liked it. It wasn't great, but neither was the movie.
And I can't believe they shot all of Bradley Cooper's stuff in a day considering how much he's actually in the show. The DJ mask thing was a cute way to cover his absence. And along those lines, where did Poehler go? She didn't attend the staff party?

Re: Wet Hot American Summer
I thought it was wonderful. I binged it on Friday and I didn't want it to end.
Some things I loved: McKinley and Ben - The whole show was almost worth it just for them. Adorbs. Marguerite Moreau and Paul Rudd's chemistry. (she was one of my first movie crushes because of Mighty Ducks and now it's back because she is gorgeous.) The new members - Jason Schwartzman and Michael Cera especially. Show and Wain fighting over Lake Bell - It just worked. Jon Hamm - Nothing more needs to be said The transformation of Gene Chris Pine - At first I wasn't feeling that storyline but the song at the end and his demise were great. Show as Reagan - Very silly in thought but it worked well because his impression was pretty awesome. THE KIDS! Man, at first I thought the kid actors were going to be a drag but these kids proved me wrong, especially that red headed bastard. Great casting. And finally I really liked how little David Hyde Pierce was in it. I loved him in the film and is probably my favorite character but if they had him dealing with the camp it would have been a downer and would've taken away from his introduction in the film. Perfect little backstory.
Things I didn't love: Molly Shannon's storyline - Much like the movie, her subplot didn't quite do it for me. Camp Tigerclaw - I wanted more with them. It didn't feel complete. The bad cgi in the last episode - I'm talking about when Garofalo was talking to Mitch the can at the end. It was clearly evident that she was not present for that day of filming and it took me out of it. Amy Poehler was so wasted. It didn't feel like the same character from the movie either. Elizabeth Banks backstory - This has me conflicted because I do think it's very funny but at the same time I feel it was unnecessary. I'm all for more Elizabeth banks but I don't know. I think I gotta watch it again soon.
And I was also bummed that Mallrat girl wasn't in the convenient store scene with the other nerds from the movie. I'm sure she just didn't want to but the whole gang wasn't there to make their cameo complete!
