I HATE how they got an actress that "kind of" resembles Jolie to keep it inline with the movie. It's very distracting.

Kristin Bauer Van Straten has been playing this role since the second episode of the first season on the show. They did change the costume she had this season to match the movie but it would have been dumb to recast her.

I do like what they did with Ursula's story. It was very outside the box and unexpected. It makes me wonder what they will come up with for Cruella. Maleficent has the best emotional backstory.

I saw the Zelena is Marian theory a few weeks ago online (apparently a clue was Marian was wearing some of the same clothes as Zelena used to) so it wasn't a complete surprise, but still pretty awesome. The part I loved the most is it seemed like Zelena legit was hoping for Robin Hood to be in love with her and for her to get to become a new person (and that fits with 3b where becoming a new person who is loveable was what she wanted). The emotion she showed when giving her "go back to Regina" bit at the end seemed too legit to be all fake to me, not to mention she had no reason to dare him to go back to Regina unless she meant it. Yet that even at these lengths she couldn't get a person to love her, or to treat her like they treat Regina, was one more crushing disappointment driving her to crazy town

I love that by giving him Zelena's shape shifting amulet, they found a storyline way to explain how Robin Hood's actor got recast from his first episode in Season 2 to the current version

Last night's episode was awesome! Totally didn't see the Zelena is Marian thing coming.

Yeah I didn't see Zelena being alive. I am glad she is still around, she is a pretty cool villain. One of the few true evil ones they have created.

Um, HOLY FUCK, can't believe they went that dark and not just because of the ending. When the real Cruella is revealed The Author was so great in the flashback too and best Regina and Rumplestiltskin scene in a while. Classic episode

I did like the twist on Cruella, she's like the first real villian on the show. not someone with family issues.

There's a difference between "Oh, she's evil" which other shows would've done and Cruella being a psychopath who's addicted to killing which feels more real kinda

It was somewhat predictable, though. It's not surprising that they made no attempt to make her a sympathetic character, she wears puppy fur and goes after puppies for their fur. She's pretty much doomed to be a one dimensional character.

I was fully expecting them to make her a tragic character when they started with her as a girl. I was surprised and relieved to see that they kept her pure evil.

Pan was that way too. He was just a prick who wanted to be young forever.

Nice episode. Loved the Emma/Snow and Emma/Hook, Maleficent/Lily, Cora/Sheriff, Zelena/Regina, Regina drinking the potion scenes.

This is an odd OUAT story arc in that it started stupid and got progressively good as it went on, whereas most plotlines (like Frozen, Pan, Zelena) got progressively worse and worse.

I liked the episode, next week looks nuts with them going to an alternate world. I am guessing either the author changes things or the sorcerer shows up.

That's a lot of stuff. Feels like they could have split that into two separate half seasons instead of stuffing it into one. Maleficent/Cruella/Ursula, Lily, and Zelena/Robin Hood is one and Rumplestiltskin, The Author, Dark Emma, Snow/Charming, etc. is enough for another.

Then again, things still haven't felt *that* messy and it's possible they roll quite a bit of these storylines over to the first half of S5 so I'm not complaining too much, but I think this is probably my least favorite half season since they went to that format at the start of Season 3 (but that has as much to do with really liking 3a, 3b and 4a)

The last episode was actually decent despite that horrible CGI dragon. Not really excited for the AU finale though, seems like a waste.

I thought that was a great season finale and loved the revelation that Merlin was the sorcerer (which makes perfect sense) It looks like the Darkness (Dark One) is the true villain of this show. I imagine that is the end game. While for now it will be controlling Emma it will probably be unleashed and try to destroy everything.

The alternate universe storyline was pretty fun though wish it had more time. Evil Snow White and her bitch Charming was especially electrifying. But the scenes before and after the AU were what really made that episode for me. Isaac's sendoff, the Hook fake-out (I thought he might legit be "dead" and need to be saved next season), Rumple and Belle, Henry and the Apprentice, and of course, the climax with dark Emma, were all awesome. Overall great finale to a mildly disjointed but still good 4b season
