"How To Get Away With Murder" was always ordered for 15 episodes so I don't know why it's been all over the news today. Nothing's changed.
Good for "Black-ish" even though I don't watch it. It's a bit ridiculous to me that they're hailing it as this runaway success when its numbers have been similar to every post "Modern Family" show excluding the pilot.

Re: Renewed, Cancelled or Hiatus Bound: 2014-2015 Edition
The thing is MF was bigger before. And shows did the same as black-ish. So it has much better retention than shows in the same period before. It's different day and age. Can't compare then and now. VM would be a huge hit on CW nowadays. Back then it was somewhat understandable why it got canceled.

In the years of 2010-2013, FOX did not do a full season of any one-hour scripted series. Most were cancelled in those years except The Following (13 episodes) and Sleepy Hollow (15 episodes), which were renewed (just not for 22 episodes).

Fox's critically-panned and ratings flop, Mulaney has been cut from 16 to 13 episodes. This might be the first cancellation if Manhattan Love Story isn't cancelled first.
