Re: Star Wars Episode VII thread - Cast announced
Isn't that the idea with every film nowadays? But yes, it will be a trilogy. Lucas has planned for Episode VII-IX. He claims that this was always the idea, but that's obviously bullshit as nobody in their right mind would start a franchise of 9 parts in the middle three. It's nonsensical, and with the development of visual effects over the last 40 years, the old trilogy stands out like a sore thumb. Continuity wise, it's the worst franchise ever made.

I am bored to death at how Bradley still believes in his own guise.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII thread - Cast announced
Algren, Lucas first pitched 9 films in 1974. And originally it was suppose to have Mace WIndu as the main character of the series. While it's true he never really had a strong basis for where the 9 films would go, he started by just creating an entire universe of characters and new he wanted to do it as is. The sequel trilogy in the mid 90s was never going to happen with Ford being as huge as he was (Also always pissed Han Solo wasn't killed in Empire) Fisher was one of the highest paid script doctors in Hollywood, and Hammill (Well I'm sure Hammill would have been game)
I think one of the most interesting elements of SW that Lucas wrote for Return of the Jedi, but later discarded was Yoda or Obi Wan returning from the force to their physical bodies to fight help Luke fight the Emperor. I think that could be an interesting area to re explore and a cool way to bring back Yoda or McGregor to the series.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII thread - Cast announced
The problem with this Marvel-esque bringing characters back from the dead is one no longer fears death for the still alive characters. Because, you know, they can clearly come back to life.
