OK I'm super distressed now that I watched "Vesuvius." The Mother has obviously died when Ted is telling the kids the story, right? WHY ARE YOU DOING THS TO ME, BAYS AND THOMAS, I AM EMOTIONALLY UNPREPARED FOR THIS TO END IN EVERY POSSIBLE WAY.

Unless this is all total misdirection. But the foundation has now been built upon what we were shown in "The Time Travelers."

I don't see how it could be misdirection. Seems incredibly obvious that's the case based on what we've seen.

It's upsetting me just thinking about it.

It's a total red herring though, I mean it has to be.

I read a good analysis of last night kind of being a way of Bays and Thomas to be like "Hey, just enjoy the ride these last few episodes and stop overanalyzing everything thrown at you."

I think that was a big thing with Time Travelers. When I first saw the episode, and I still think this way today, all Ted was saying he wish he had 45 more days than the enormous amount of time he has had with The Mother. Not because she died and is clinging on for more, but just because before he met her he was at a low point in his life and he wishes those 45 days were instead filled with her in them.

Bays and Thomas have always thrown these curveballs in the show before and this one is no different. We'll look back on this and 4 weeks and laugh that we got it wrong while also crying that the show is over

Well SOMEONE'S Mother is dead.

And honestly when the episode first aired I thought it was Ted's.

That was my FIRST thought. But as it went on, it's gotta be the mother.

I mean, let's just discuss for a second if they do actually have her dying/dead at the end...

Would that be ok? I mean, it would make sense. "Hey Dad, how did you meet Mom?" Most kids don't just ask that. And as sad of an ending that would be... It makes the most sense.

The one thing I do find kind of funny is that the mom says she doesn't want him getting lost in the stories, and then he tells his kids every single one again.

If there is in fact a big twist (Though it's not like this show has every been that deep, it's always been pretty cut and dry)

Maybe the twist is Ted is the one who is dead and the kids are watching him.

And he got Bob Saget to narrate his stories.

Nope. There's too much interaction between Ted and the kids in the beginning.

Another reason I don't see her dying (very minor spoiler but I'm putting it in tags anyway)

...unless the Mother gets murdered by a train.

Well wasn't expecting that before tonight but definitely a sweet little episode.

Ted going full True Douche Detective was also a highlight.
"MOSBY BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOYS!"
"...We agreed you'd never do that again."

As soon as my gf pointed out that Lily wasn't completely hammered after drinking all of those drinks all weekend, this was an easy mystery to solve.

LOVED this episode.

Once again the episode comes around full circle into something quite enjoyable. Enjoyed the montage showing the future of the show's biggest supporting characters.

This episode hit me hard.
