WGN America lines up directors for anthology series
Quote: WGN America has lined up the roster of directors to take on its “10 Commandments” limited series project from the Weinstein Co.
Each set of the 10-episode scripted series will tell a different tale of drawn from the Biblical rule book, with a different filmmaker attached to each commandment episode. Creatives attached to the project as directors so far include: Gus Van Sant, Lee Daniels, Jim Sheridan, Wes Craven and Michael Cera.
Producers Bruce Cohen and Bob Weinstein are shepherding the series. Details on “Commandments” were to be unveiled by WGN America topper Matt Cherniss Sunday during the cabler’s Television Critics Assn. press tour sesh in Pasadena.
“Each of these directors is acclaimed for their own unique brand of style and genre, so it’s clear that we can expect ten wildly different episodes from this series,” said Weinstein, who is co-chairman of TWC.
Craven added, “Working with Bob and Harvey has been a huge part of my career for more than a decade, and this project absolutely fascinates me. The chance to put my own person spin in a contemporary manner on these ancient commands is priceless.”
“10 Commandments” is the latest project in WGN America’s deep dive into original series, which starts this year with the bow of period drama “Salem.” http://variety.com/2014/tv/news/gus-van ... 201049324/With two of my top-ten directors involved, Jim Sheridan and Gus Van Sant, I am definitely eager to see this. Or at least their episodes. I am sure the overall series will be a tad uneven.

American Horror Story is very different beast anyway. It unfolds a standalone story every season, not every episode.
