Re: Star Wars Episode VII thread - Gosling?! Efron?!
I'd like Gosling only if he gets rid of that fucking accent. It'd be too distracting in a SW film. Efron doesn't really make sense though, he's way too young. I'd switch the roles around as well.

Efron is 26. That's not that young.

He still looks like a kid though, Elijah Wood is in his 30s and still looks like he did in Forever Young (I know bad joke)

Re: Star Wars Episode VII thread - Gosling?! Efron?!
I think the point I was making had to do with continuity. Luke's never had a love interest in the series outside of his sister. Han was already banging Leia, I'd imagine they'd have a kid long before Luke even found someone. I don't think they practice safe sex a long time ago.

It means that Han fucked Leia long after Luke fucked his girl?

I thought the Jedi order was all about celibacy, in fact isn't the one time it wasn't practiced what brought about the Empire.

Now Efron as a Padawan makes sense.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII thread - Gosling?! Efron?!
AWESOME NEWS: Quote: John Williams Returning for Star Wars Episode VII Quote: Kathleen Kennedy has just confirmed at Star Wars Celebration Europe that John Williams will return to score Star Wars: Episode VII.
Appearing on a pre-recorded video, Williams said he was delighted to be returning to the saga, and said that while he had not seen the script, he was looking forward to drawing on some of his original themes, as well as adding new material.
"I look forward to returning to a galaxy far, far away... I actually feel like I never left it," says Williams. "I'm happy to be a continuing part of the Star Wars saga... and the joy in the journey of discovery that awaits us all."
He also goes on to explain why he thinks Kennedy and J.J. Abrams are perfect choices to continue George Lucas' saga. http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/07/27/ ... e=facebook

So he's gonna get paid to do the same stuff over again just with a few more wind instruments here and there.

Williams could fuck a flute for 3 hours and it'd still sound better than anything from Zimmer, Silvestri, and Elfman combined.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII thread - Gosling?! Efron?!
Williams has composed a lot of great music, but he hasn't composed a great score in nearly a decade. The last "great" album he's done would be either Memoirs of a Geisha or The Prisoner of Azkaban.

I'm of the school of thought that Williams is a genius born out of the influence of Gustav van Holst, but he has long since exhausted his musical abilities.

I would have been equally satisfied if either Williams, Zimmer or Giacchino had scored Episode VII

From what I understand he's not retired, he just hasn't been asked to do any scores outside of Spielberg's films (which haven't exactly been demanding, but they all have good music).

He could be playing anyone really. I be surprised if Abrams cast him as a villain in two straight movies.
