Hopefully Maisee Williams gets some Emmy consideration here. She should have a juicy role in the show going by the books.

And when has the main story ever been at risk?

It hasn't yet, but I was just responding to your argument about changing things. I am ok with changing things as long as it doesn't change main story points.

A bear there was
A bear, a bear!
All black and brown
And covered in hair!

"Oh come," they said
"Come to the fair!"
"The fair?" said he
"But I'm a bear
All black and brown
And covered in hair!"

And down the road
From here to there
Three boys, a goat
And a dancing bear!
They danced and spun
All the way to the fair!

Oh, sweet she was
And pure and fair
The maid with honey
In her hair
The maid with honey
In her hair!

The bear smelled the scent
On the summer air
The bear! The bear!
All black and brown
And covered with hair!
He smelled the scent
On the summer air
He sniffed and roared
And smelled it there
Honey on the summer air!

Again Im pissed at the ending. The motivation made no sense compared to the book

Spoiler: show
Wish the Brave Companions were actually in the show. At least when they did, they wanted to drive a wedge between House Bolton and House Lannister since the Brave Companions switched sides before

They are really going off the rail from the books. Had they had the same though process that they currently have, we would have seen season 1 wihtout mirri maz durr

Post Re: Game of Thrones:Season 3
so what exactly were Boltons reasons for what happened at the end of the episode? I think i may have to watch the episode again (without distractions). I haven't read the books so the reasons may be explained differently in the TV series.

Post Re: Game of Thrones:Season 3
You mean from the books?
Spoiler: show
The ones who captured Brienne and Jaime were The Brave Companions who were hired by House Bolton after the Brave Companions turned cloak on the Lannisters in Harrenhal. The reason the Brave Companions cut off his hand were that House Bolton were going to switch sides with the Lannisters and to complicate matters, The Brave Companion had already turned cloak on hte Lannisters and they would had been reprimended for their action. Thats swhy they hacked off Jaimes hand to drive a wedge between Bolton and Tywin LAnnister.

The tv version for the explanation is a rather deep plot hole because Locke wouldn't have done that after he listened to Jaime's advice to turn Brienne in unsullied for money yet turned down Jaime and then to hack his hand off which would upset Robb Stark since hes still negotiating to get his sisters back

The last scene certainly surprised me.

I don't mind getting rid of the Brave Companions. They are too hard to explain in a show. My guess
Spoiler: show
is that Locke is loyal to Robb and thinks he is helping is king. I don't think he is part of the Bolton conspiracy. Roose will probably kill Locke by the end of the season
I really liked the episode, especially Daneyeres. Her scenes were awesome, and can't wait to next week. Also, loved the introduction to the Blackfish. He didn't disappoint.

It was a good episode but the last one was slightly better.

The Blackfish and Edmure introduction was done very well. As was the reek setup.

I guess it should be considered a great episode since most of the episode deals with money as the Time's blog pointed out. Anywhere from Tyrion talking about the crown being in debt because of Robert's spending and the whole war. About not paying the bank of Bravos and in turn the bank would start funding the opposition. All the way to the free cities money is part of the theme with Dany haggling with the slavers over trading one dragon for 10,000 unsullies and then concluding with Jaime learning that money can't buy his freedom with him paying the price with his arrogance.

I often wonder how much more enjoyable the series would be if we hadnt read the books. I think the story and the surprises would make it extremely addictive viewing (especially as I guage the reaction of my non reader friends). Many also watch the whole series in one go which I think is always more rewarding.

However at the same time, by reading the books I feel you understand the story better. There are some things that happen or are discussed in the show that most non readers couldnt possibly understand whats going on having not read the books. Or maybe im just dumb.

Oh and I love the "injoke" reference to the Mereneese Knot!!!

Strong candidate for my favorite episode, too.

I really loved that sequence at the end. That was followed by the unsullied leaving the city in centurion formation. The show is pretty much a lock to win Emmy cinematography, costuming and FX.

Daenerys was awesome, and the end sequence was one of the best of the series. I agree this was one of the best episodes of the show. The end sequence helped, but throw in the mutinty at Craster's keep,Theon's little surprise, and Varys and Lady Olenna's meeting and you had one hell of a episode.

Evey scene tonight was excellent. Dany pulling a Spartacus at the end was just the cherry on top.

Fantastic episode.

The crasters keep and Dany scenes were epic. Also loved the Jaime and Varys scenes.

They are probably going to change
Spoiler: show
her story after her takeover of Meeren. My problem isn't she is too kind, but she just sits around and doesn't do anything other than be romanced by Daario.

Really I blame that on Martin
Spoiler: show
I think he wanted to delay Dany to get to Westros for various reasons and really couldn't figure out what to do with her. I suspect she will be on the move in the next book.

The scene at the end with Daenerys and the slaves was just perfect. Emilia Clark was a perfect choice for Dany. Very powerful scene.

I may be misremembering something but didn't Arya actually said Tywins name in the book?
