The only singing competition show that matters anymore is back for a new season at the end of the month, with new judges Shakira and Usher replacing Christina Aguilera and Cee-Lo for a cycle.

I'm going to miss the original foursome and do hope that Cee-Lo and Christina return for season 5, but I'll still be watching. The judge dynamic has always been the main reason to watch that show and surprisingly Shakira seems like she'll be a fun addition. Jury is still out on Usher though, but I'm willing to give it a shot.

I watch this sporadically but I think having Shakira and Usher on the show now is much better than Cee-Lo and Christina.

The last girl tonight was great. Hated the twins and the Taylor Momsen lookalike country girl. I felt bad for the guy with the stillborn children - he was actually pretty good and I would have liked to have seen him get through.

I like Shakira a lot. She's really likable and seems to be having fun. Usher is boring so far.

Shakira is killing it so far.

She's 100x more likable than I expected.

Jon Peter Lewis, the annoyance formerly known from the top 10 of American Idol season 3, was part of the folk duo in last night's episode.

Shakira is - and always has been - awesome.

It could be entertaining watching beyond the auditions if the show focuses more on how judges manage the talent

Watching American Idol is like watching auditions for a High School musical compared to The Voice now. I still prefer The Voice UK (2 days 'til Season 2!), but The Voice US easily trumps AI and X-Factor.

I had never watched this show. But my dad turned it on tonight and my whole family watched it for the three hours it was on. I assume it's all of the episodes that have aired so far this season? At least I saw all of the people audition that everyone has on their team so far. We're actually enjoying it a lot. We will keep watching. Shakira rocks.

Glad you enjoyed it. This is easily the best of these shows on the air right now. And it's one of the few shows I follow that my mom also watches and I can discuss with her, which is nice.

Blake last night when he was said to that one girl "We all know you're going to pick Shakira!"

I love her this season. I could almost see them getting Christina Aguilera to come back and pitting the two against each other as a "good vs. evil" scenario

Shakira is super cute and Usher is silky smooth as usual. They're perfect additions to this show.

The girl singing "Safe & Sound" has an incredible voice. Usher was stupid to not turn around.

I felt bad for the girl singing Adele. I thought she sounded really good when on the street. But Adele was a terrible choice. Of course she'd pale in comparison to her. As soon as she started singing it I was like, "Nobody is going to turn around." She's good, but her rendition of "Set Fire To The Rain" wasn't. Would like to see her come back in the future.

I love the interaction between the judges. They're great together.

That's the reason why the blind audition are the highest rated episodes, whoccares after the blind auditions are over?.

I don't even know what happens when they're over because I've never seen the show .

The interactions between the judges are THE reason to watch this show. And it continues into the battle rounds and the steals, as well as the performance shows.

They have blind auditions, battle rounds (two contestants from the same team compete against each other) where coaches are allowed to 'steal' someone from another team, knockout rounds where the coach has to choose between two people singing the same song, and then the live shows. By the live shows each coach has 5 contestants each.

I seriously can TOTALLY see them doing this. It would be ratings gold.

Also I miss the super incredible sexual tension between Xtina and Adam. Plus you can tell the difference between Xtina and Shakira, Shakira makes it fun. Xtina makes it more intense.

Still the best one. And probably my favorite from all seasons.

If they want this show to see a big increase in the ratings they should try and get Adele . She'd be able to have like any person she wanted I'm sure.

I really love Caroline Glaser. She has a great, soothing voice. Was glad Adam and Usher wanted to steal her. Would have sucked had she not made it.
