I think it'll either be New Girl if they go with a comedy or The Following, which they could premiere out of the Superbowl followed by another new episode the next night.

The Following would make sense because I don't believe it's scheduled to premiere until midseason again.

post-SB Following + new episode the next night makes the most sense.

Hopefully it won't "bomb" like Criminal Minds but the fact that they can air an episode the next day (and it's serialized) can spark momentum.

If Fox has a new cartoon waiting in the wings, they'll probably throw that in instead.

I doubt the Following considering its a serialized show

A lot of shows that had post-SB airings were serialized. Alias, Grey's Anatomy, etc. Fox just aired a serialized show (Glee) last time they had the Super Bowl.

And this would also presumably be the second season premiere so that matters much less.

I dont watch those shows you mentioned except for parts of Alias but Im sure they are much less serialized than Greys or Glee. Even Alias wasnt as serialized as 24 or Lost.

I guess it being a season premiere would help sort out the storyline for the new viewers

Probably "The Following." If they go half-hour then "New Girl."

And this is a great way to gain a wider audience for a serialized show. "Grey's Anatomy" for example was big before that but absolutely EXPLODED after the Super Bowl episode.

What also helped Grey's (aside from the opening shower scene) was that the episode was a two-parter. Really smart scheduling on ABC.

If Fox goes with New Girl instead, they'll probably pair it with The Mindy Project or a new comedy.

I lean toward 'The Following', if not - then 'New Girl'.

Maybe it will be a new show.

Otherwise I think they'll decide to not un-cancel The Mob Doctor and premiere the new season after the Super Bowl. :funny:

Yeah, they pulled out all the stops for that episode. It was what got me hooked and I'm still watching the show eight years later.

The Grey's episode was brilliant. They managed to get a shitload of new viewers from that and actually keep several for a while. Now that is how you use the post-SB spot to your advantage.
