Anyone watching?

The premiere was last night and it was hilarious. I LOVED Lisa's family and that whole storyline - it was hilarious. The cat skit had me dying laughing. Also loved Dalia's speech to her maid :P And the "Medium" fan club's return!

This show is underappreciated. I hope having the post Modern Family berth exposes it to a wider group of people.

Lisa and Dalia are both perfect characters in their own ways. Lisa's weirdness kills me.

It really is. I felt like it got next-to-no buzz last season despite getting solid ratings. Its humor is like a mix of Modern Family and Happy Endings - meaning it can be very wholesome but in the next scene turn absolutely bizarre at the snap of a finger :P

It seems like they are really setting the scene for Tessa's Mom make an appearance sometime this season.

Anyone know if that was actually Jane Levy singing at the end? It was pretty good.

She is. Malin Akerman is playing her and she's coming on around Thanksgiving during sweeps.

Allie Grant should seriously be an Emmy contender for comedy. She's HILARIOUS on this show.

Malin Akerman seems a bit young to play Jane Levy's mother.

She's 34, and Jane Levy is supposed to be 15-16 on the show, so things could be more far-fetched I suppose.

Suburgatory is making a very good case for itself this season. It's not the best comedy on TV but it's developed into quite the weird little charmer. The Shays are perfect, as is Dalia. I kind of like that George and Tessa sort of remain straight (wo)man centers, it grounds the show in a way that keeps it from becoming too over-the-top like it seemed like it might be at the beginning of season 1.

I love the Shays. Every scene with them is hysterical. The Monopoly scene was hilarious :P

The end scene with Dalia reading the Torah in her typically hilarious monotone fashion had to be a reference to Homeland and Brody sneaking to the shed in season 1, right?

Tonight's episode was considerably more dramatic than I'm used to with this show but I thought it was fantastic. The ending was really sweet. I loved Malin Akerman and I'm glad she'll be a recurring character this season.

Agreed, it was a surprisingly emotional episode for a show with so many over-the-top characters. One of the best of the series so far and it contained relatively little comedy.

I thought Jane Levy and Allie Grant sold their more emotional scenes. And while the final sequence reminded me of "The O.C." for obvious reasons due to the music choice ;) it was very, very well-executed.

This is such a good show. I really look forward to it every week. I hope ABC keeps it after "Modern Family" and doesn't move it around.

Dalia's music video for "You Missed a Spot" was perfect.

As was everything Ryan Shay did in this episode. I'm weirdly rooting for him and Tessa.

Last night's episode was another wonderful one. I really liked Tessa's scenes with her mom, they were very emotionally honest. And the "You Missed A Spot" video was AMAZING.

Ryan Shay is like if Dug from Up became a buff sitcom character. Amazing. This was a great episode.

Tessa: "And you! What is your name?"
Girl: "I'm Derek's girlfriend."
Tessa: "What is your name, child?"
Girl: "I want to say Joan?"

Although I think it's now been two episodes in a row without Dalia, which is so not OK.

Sometimes I wish they would make a spin-off of this show that just has Dalia saying things in monotone. She never fails to be absolutely hilarious.

Monotone: "Does this school validate? My old school validates. You guys probably all take the bus."

Monotone: "Hi, Tessa" (spotting old janitor with red hair).

The structure of the show is starting to feel a little bit odd. When was the last time George and Tessa were actually in a scene together? It feels like the writers noticed the "complaint" that George and Tessa sometimes seemed like more a couple than father/daughter and purposefully went in the other direction.

Also, Dallas is starting to really grate. Suburgatory has always been very cartoonish but they've toned that down in many of the other characters and Dallas just sticks out.

Dalia is just a phenomenal character. I doubt Carly Chaikin has any particular acting range outside of this type of character, but she just KILLS ME with her monotone deliveries. The dry crying!

"But the microwave cooks food, and Chef Alan cooks food. You should throw away your microwave."

The dry crying was hilarious. I also loved the almond scene :P And the spoof of The Notebook at the end was awesome.

Another great episode last night - though it's been too long without some antics from the Shay family. I miss them ;)

I feel like this show is being done in somewhat by the George/Dallas pairing. Their characters aren't especially funny together or apart, as much as I like the actors, and it's dragging the show down.
