Oh my. This show gets me every time.

I figured the episode would end with Carrie showing up at Brody's hotel room. I also figured the CIA watching Brody would go on for, like, the rest of the season.

I did not expect them to detain him at the end of episode 4. Where can they go from here now? I'm so excited to find out.

Also, Carrie's little speech to Brody was full of cosmic payback. Claire Danes is approaching Legend status.

I'm dead. That ending was INSANE. INSANE. And it's only episode 4!

What's gonna happen next? I thought this would happen at like... the end of the season.

After episodes 2 and 3 were weak, that episode was Homeland at its BEST. Not even just the amazing final confrontation, but I absolute love stuff like the surveillance scenes, the tall comic relief guy who tracked Brody at the hotel, a new character, more Saul/Dana, etc.

I actually think it's a really, really good idea to make the Brody storyline only 2 seasons, if he even gets that far. Maybe Abu Nazir's storyline can extend, but move onto other subjects for Carrie to catch after this season. The Homeland writers knew what they were doing when they brought out the tape in Episode 1 in regards to how far ahead it'd push Brody's demise

I'm tempted to say that the entire interrogation of Brody by Carrie was the best individual scene this show has ever had. I'm almost getting tired of praising Claire Danes and Damian Lewis. But hell, I'm going to do it again. Just incredible acting and writing.

I'm not even gonna broach the whole potentially regrettable hit and run plot development. I trust these writers, and hopefully it just gives Morgan Saylor some good material.

This is why its so silly to put Homeland on the pedestal with Mad Men or Breaking Bad. For all that's great about this episode...and there's a lot...that dumb ass subplot with the daughter goes to show that they don't even know how to fill 12 episodes. These guys show their hackneyed 24 roots.

I'll give you Marie the shoplifter (which I forgot on purpose), but Mad Men has never stooped so low.

My initial dread as the scene progressed was that the kids were going to get kidnapped; I was kind of impressed that they found an even dumber angle

Like I already said, I trust this show's writers and am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt with the Dana subplot. I actually think it could intersect with the main plot in an interesting way (i.e. Brody has some kind of leverage over the vice president now).

I dunno. This show always does the opposite of what I expect. I also don't think that scene should overshadow the Brody/Carrie stuff which was phenomenal. Plus, Morgan Saylor is a terrific actress and I'm glad they're giving her stuff to do.

There were some truly amazing moments in the last episode. Danes & Lewis = perfection. Still, the subplot with the daughter is nonsense.

Yeah, the Dana subplot is approaching Kim and the cougar levels of inanity. I just hope it actually intersects with the main plot in some way, though it'll still feel contrived.

I just watched all the episodes during the storm these past two days, and I love it. That interrogation scene was pretty awesome.

I do agree about the sub-plot, but before reading this thread, I just kinda assumed that it's going to be tied-in to an eventual power play between the VP and Brody.

I suggest you go back and watch 24. In Season 2, you could skip over every single one of Kim's scenes and it would have no impact on the A-storyline.

Yeah, really. Everyone is giving this Dana subplot shit and nothing has even happened yet. It could interact with the main storyline in an interesting way, give it time.

Magnus is right. And its far easier to forgive 24 because they had 24 episodes a year to fill. That's a lot of time. Homeland only makes 12 episodes and they have to resort to teenage daughter hit and run? Really?! And we're only in season two.

There is no excuse for crappy filler subplots in a 12 episode premium cable drama. Come on.

Wow, last 2 episodes Homeland has been at its finest. I can live with a Brody face turn.

Uh, the kid who did it is the son of the Vice President. I imagine this isn't a filler subplot.

I love Dana. Morgan Saylor perfectly sold that hospital scene.

I don't think any episode of Homeland ever "kinda sucks," but last night's was definitely the weakest edition of the season. A weak episode of Homeland is still a fine episode of TV, though.
