I'm not anti-country, I like some country music. Johnny Cash is one of my favorites. Admittedly, I like the more crossover stuff in today's music. The Taylor Swifts, Lady Antebellums, Carrie Underwoods. I like Eric Church's Springsteen, though that has more to do with my love of Springsteen.
But I don't like hardcore country. The twang-twangs, achy breaky hearts, beer-swillin', daddy-lovin' stuff that Scotty McCreery imitated. I draw the line there.

I can't take much hard core country either but I like it in general and past superstars. I'm really not into today's country generation besides the pop crossover folks.
That's why Tim McGraw would be good because he's done that or get Garth brooks if he's bored enough to do it.

That'd be a huge signing for them. They need a great male judge pick though. The first two names I'd call would be Justin Timberlake and Usher.

Well it's turning into the Voice in terms of star power but it was never about the judges except for Simon. I'll be watching though. I can't believe Katy didn't want an easy 20 just to do this for 16 weeks or so.

It's gotta be the most bizarre crop of people assembled for a talent show in history, though. Keith Urban, Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj and Randy Jackson? Such a random bunch.
I'm glad Randy is back. Five years ago, I would've been fine with it. Now, he brings a familiarity to the show that it's been missing since Simon and Paula left.
I like Nikki Minaj but she needs to Control Herself and be a bit more mature for goodness...

Producer Nigel Lythgoe, who has repeatedly claimed that Mariah and Nicki are getting along just swimmingly, also steps in to intervene. New neutral-as-Switzerland judge Keith Urban, sitting in the undesirable hot seat between Nicki and Mariah, remains calm and carries on, just sipping his Coke and probably mentally going straight to his happy place. And Mariah looks exasperated; moans,"Why, why, why?"; and appears to point Nicki in the direction of the exit door. (Mariah tweeted on Tuesday late afternoon, "whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy"--but that post has since been deleted.) TMZ additionally reports that Nicki also threatened to "knock out" Mariah, although that exchange apparently wasn't caught on tape.
While the damning video makes it seem like this battle royale between these two divas was Nicki-instigated, MouthToEars.com claims that it was Mariah who started it all. "Nicki Minaj walked off of set because Mariah Carey kept making jabs at her. Nicki's manager and team convinced her to come back to the show. Mariah kept at it and called Nicki a b***h and then proceeded to cuss her out. Producers had to stop filming and call it a night," the site reports.
Representatives for Fox had no comment at this time.

Is the feud between "American Idol's" Nicky Minaj and Mariah Carey faux, created to boost ratings, or is it genuine? Although “Idol” executive producer Nigel Lythgoe said that a report of Minaj threatening Carey was “absolute rubbish,” that may not be the case.
Walters reported that indeed, Carey was threatened, as previously reported, on ABC's "The View" Thursday morning. Walters said Carey told her via a phone conversation with Carey just prior to "The View's" airing, that "when Nicki walked off the set, multiple people heard Nicki say, 'If I had a gun I would shoot the (adjective unsaid by Walters) b*tch.'"
The statement was eerily similar - though not identical - to what was first reported on Wednesday.
According to Walters, things went further: after a meeting on Wednesday attended by the two, Minaj told Carey, "I love you, but we might fight again," to which Carey responded, "No, we will not."
Walters added that Carey has increased the size of her security team.
In a response issued on Twitter, a series of tweets from Minaj said the following:
