Post Hate Watching
It's the new hot trend! I know at least some of you do this.

The two current subjects of my hate watching are Glee and Smash. No explanations necessary. The more I started catching up on The Newsroom, the more I realized I was hate watching it too.

"Glee" for the majority of the third season (though I quite liked the last few episodes, actually).

"The Big C" and its most recent season was another example.

A lot of the time I have shows that I don't necessarily hate, but are certainly tired and I just am watching at this point out of habit/to see how loose ends are tied up. The only show in recent memory that I dropped after several seasons without seeing it to the end was "Heroes," and I dropped that after the third season :P

Newsroom and Smash. They're trashy, but more interesting than reality TV trash since they're trying to look and feel like far more sophisticated shows. Smash is struggling to succeed on a pure entertainment level so I hope next season gets more funny-bad.

I'm fully confident "Smash" will get better in its second season. Sounds like they recognized a lot of the problems that existed.

I actually legitimately enjoy "The Newsroom" and don't fully get the hate for that one.

Definitely Glee. Last season was a huge disaster.

Eff you!

NBC comedies are a text book example of hate watching most of the time.

Sons of Anarchy for me. As the seasons go, the protaganists become more and more hatable. Something about the shoe trying to become a moral compass. It also doesnt help that the writer and creator fo the show seems like a real life douchebag.

I'm put off by The Newsroom for several reasons:
a) even for an Aaron Sorkin show, it's Wildly Important And We're Going To Tell You Why 10,000 Times Per Episode
b) the female characters are written like horrible dingbats
c) the love triangle/4 person "thing" is one of the worst in TV history

And regarding Smash, I actually kind of want it to stay just as bad in the second season. It's the prime example of my hate watching, because even Glee occasionally has a good episode. Smash had one legitimately good episode (the pilot) and then got awful so quickly.

OMG I forgot about "Weeds." That's DEFINITELY one, though recent seasons have been less awful and more boring.

I hate-watched 30 Rock for almost four seasons.

I also routinely hate-watch reruns of The Big Bang Theory.

Dexter Season 6 was total hate watch mode. Season 7's trailer is good though

Forgot that one. I literally have a pen and paper by my side when I watch this show and I just write down all the dumb stuff that happens. It's never less than a full page. LOL.

There's kind of a perverse pleasure in watching something like Smash, mostly because it's so ambitious and trying to be a highbrow series but failing on pretty much every angle.

Well I did watch the first episode of Smash last week  so I know what you mean.

Its funny seeing how it was marketed here recently having seen the reaction to the show online over the past year. The local marketing is laughable. Sold exactly as a high brow hit show "from mastermind Steven Spielberg" :funny:

I do most of my hate watching while I browse web. Half of the screen is the TV show, half of it is the browser.
