 Re: Breaking Bad: Season 5
So, considering the events aren't moving very quickly, the cold open from the season premiere probably won't figure until the series' very end.

 Re: Breaking Bad: Season 5
I swear. Walt would sacrifice his own family if he had too. I really don't think he cares about anyone but himself considering he is withholding jesse's cash and what he did to that guy. Sounds we are heading into Lufthansa heist cleanup territory now.

 Re: Breaking Bad: Season 5
It's bizarre how I fully expected this to happen to Mike at some point BUT I AM STILL DEVASTATED.
Also, not only is this the best show on television but it is also the most well photographed. The ending!
Plus: "Shut the fuck up and let me die in peace." Badass to the end.

 Re: Breaking Bad: Season 5
That feels like one of the great lines in television history to me.
Mike's death has been sort of inevitable -- I've basically braced myself during every scene with him and Walt since Hazard Pay for some sort of horrific shock moment -- but that doesn't make it any less devastating. The execution of it was completely worthy of films like The Godfather.
I love Walt's patheticness at the end, realizing he just murdered Mike for absolutely nothing.
Walter White, I hope you die slowly, agonizingly, ripped limb from fucking limb. But not before your ego comes crashing down.

Completely obvious that it was coming this season, but still...NOOOOO!
I also can't handle that there's only one more episode until NEXT SUMMER.

 Re: Breaking Bad: Season 5
You guys, based on their tiny wordless exchange in the car wash scene of last night's episode, I am so down for a Jesse/Skyler alliance against Walt. That needs to happen, like, yesterday.

Oh that too. Either way, my point still stands. Also, was I the only one who was singing Destiny's Child after the cold open? "Say my name."

Another amazing episode.
I wonder if Mike will end in a barrel of acid next episode.
And poor poor Jesse...

omg
Hank knows.
The entire series has been building up to this. HOW ARE WE SUPPOSED TO WAIT A YEAR. Holy cow.
Also super disturbing: the prison murder montage. Chilling! And I can't believe it took them 5 seasons to use "Crystal Blue Persuasion" but it was super effective.
gahhhhhh all the feelings

 Re: Breaking Bad: Season 5
I actually think Walter wanted to be out. He had untold riches to keep him content and kids who were finally home. Unfortunately, Hank is about to pull him back in.
I didn't feel this season's shortened length until tonight. Waiting a year to finish this story is just mean.

I didn't feel this season's shortened length until tonight. Waiting a year to finish this story is just mean. I agree, I think Walt was shockingly telling the truth when he said he was out. Possibly because the cancer might be back (which is ambiguous but I'm guessing that's what the MRI scene was indicating). There's something hilarious about how Walt has been deceiving Hank for so long, and Hank finally makes the Heisenberg connection by taking a dump. And, of course, Walt's hubris does him in...having that incriminating book of poetry right out in the open. This episode, as usual, had moments of unbearable tension that resulted in nothing happening. Jesse checking the bags...I think we all know deep down it was just money, but I was afraid Mike's severed head was going to pop out or something. And then the end scene by the pool, I kept waiting for Jr. and Holly to fall in and die or something. This show has taught me to be afraid of everything. P.S. the excerpt from the Whitman poem this episode ("Gliding Over All") was named after: Gliding o'er all, through all, Through Nature, Time, and Space, As a ship on the waters advancing, The voyage of the soul—not life alone, Death, many deaths I'll sing.

 Re: Breaking Bad: Season 5
That was the perfect way for Hank to find out. Funny, dark, and totally in line with Walt's character. The look on his face is perfect, too.

 Re: Breaking Bad: Season 5
I thought that was maybe the best Breaking Bad episode.
Walt is built to be unhappy no matter what he does. When he had a family and students he felt emasculated and carried too much anger about the unspectacular nature of his life... When he becomes a drug kingpin he's too lonely to enjoy it. Walt would find a way to hate any path of life he takes. In the pilot he had two kinds of sicknesses, one being physical cancer, and the other being mental illness... in reality the show has been much more about the latter

 Re: Breaking Bad: Season 5
There have been rumors that Giancarlo Esposito would return for the final stretch of episodes (flashbacks or dreams I suppose). Maybe they'll have Walt dreaming of everyone he has killed on his way to the top.

http://collider.com/breaking-bad-spin-off-saul/Will that work, I wonder. He's a great supporting character, but not sure if he can carry an entire series...
