There can't be many IMAX screens in China, surely...
But all cinemas are capable of 3D.

I'm glad Prometheus moved if this means a stronger run in China for it.

 Re: China Box Office (TDKR & TASM - 8/27; Prometheus - 9/3)
You know what, I don't think Chinese people will like Prometheus. Take that with a pinch of salt, it is purely my opinion and not based on anything other than what films they usually go gaga for.
When does it open? I have a feeling it opens in September, which is when the kids go back to school, which won't be good for it. Might be a bad move, and opening earlier in the Summer may have been better. Or waiting until December.

 Re: China Box Office (TDKR & TASM - 8/27; Prometheus - 9/3)
TDKR will win both the OW and the total gross, but the OW will be closer.
Look like TDKR is getting 41.7% of the screens, while TASM is getting 40.3%. The highest for the rest will be 2.9%.

 Re: China Box Office (TDKR & TASM - 8/27; Prometheus - 9/3)
Thank you. SEPT 7?????????? soon! YES! FUCK YES! Now, back to normal: Batman has been getting all of the marketing. I haven't seen Spider-Man posters anywhere. Even the Batman trailer is getting shown on the streets on giant screens. For the complete lack of marketing for Spider-Man, I think to stay within 20k of Batman is a huge feat and just shows the popularity of Spider-Man in China compared to Batman.

I think Batman will win by $30m overall.

Spider-Man will get more shows in per day. Spider-Man is also in 3D.
It might be closer than you think. I'm interested to see the first week grosses.

Re: China Box Office (TDKR & TASM - 8/27)
Midnight being over TA isn't surprising given the built-in audience for those two comparing to the Avengers characters in China.
TDKR should make $120m+.

That'd be beyond amazing and together with Italy ensure a $650+ million overseas total and probably $1.1+ billion worldwide.

Re: China Box Office (TDKR & TASM - 8/27)
That was my prediction, without knowing any data, so could certainly be too optimistic.
Just checked baidu forum, and so far it seems TASM is doing a little better than TDKR. I'm still hoping for a $40m+ week for TDKR though.

Re: China Box Office (TDKR & TASM - 8/27)
TASM did win one theater chain by about 40% for the midnight gross, so it's definitely off to a great start. The pre-sale for TDKR, however, is stronger, so who will win the OD is still up in the air. Going to be close.

Re: China Box Office (TDKR & TASM - 8/27)
Monday morning showings were averaging 10-20% full, with TASM continuing to lead by about 30%.
Neither is looking at record-breaking numbers for sure.

Neither is looking at record-breaking numbers for sure. Xia, some posters at BO.com were saying awhile back that TASM would only be playing in 3D and not in 2D. Have you heard the same thing? If that's true, then it has a 100% 3D ratio and boost of 30-40%. Huge advantage.

At my local cinema, the showings are only 3D for TASM.
