Absolutely out of this galaxy, not just out of this world It's not even all the theaters playing it... I'm only tracking a subset (mostly the bigger venues).

Re: The Dark Knight Rises OW Record Club Of The Storm Is Her
It is quite interesting to see that Ray Subers has changed his mind about TDKR's opening weekend. Here's what he said in his July preview: Quote: Even with this IMAX boost, it may be tough to top The Avengers's record debut ($207.4 million) or its overall haul (on track for at least $620 million). But initial tracking suggests that the movie will debut higher than its predecessor ($158.4 million), and if it turns out to be a worthy follow-up, look out. He must have been quite surprised by all the massive pre-sales of these past days.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises OW Record Club Of The Storm Is Her
On the subject of hyperbole, gay comments, and etc etc.
Here is a post from the heart. I can't speak for everyone, but I can speak for why Nolan's Batman films and Nolan in general is such a great director *to me*. I've been a Batman fan since I was a kid, a BIG Batman fan. The first time I read a Batman comic and saw the Batman animated series, I was hooked. I liked what Burton did with Batman 1989, but it had flaws, and I still yearned for more. Batman Returns had so much potential, yet it disappointed in several ways. Catwoman was a highlight. The Schumacher films I would rather forget as a fan.
Now we come to Nolan. I had no expectations about Batman Begins when it came out. It seemed cool, and I only got excited to watch it in theaters when I saw a TV spot with Scarecrow in it. So then I went to see it, and I was blown away. I never expected such a dark take on Batman, rooted in reality, making it seem plausible and realistic. No it wasn't completely real, but it *seemed* plausible, and that really excited me. The fear toxin hallucinations also blew me away. I could not get the movie out of my head afterwords and soon went and saw it a second time in theaters. I had only seen one Nolan film before this, and that was Memento, which I had already been a huge fan of. I didn't even know Nolan directed BB until after seeing it. When I found out I was very impressed. The ending of BB with the Joker card was just so awesome.
Then came The Prestige, which really surprised and I loved it. So I officially had become a big Nolan fan, and I admired the little details he put in every film, how respectful he was of each actor on set, how humble and gentleman-like he was and how dedicated he was to having a solid script, and getting solid performances out of actors as much as possible.
I followed TDK's viral marketing very closely, and I had sky-high expectations for it after being so impressed with BB. I saw TDK in IMAX the first time at a midnight show, and it blew away my expectations. After that, I saw it a bunch more times, all in IMAX.
For *me*, The Dark Knight had almost everything I could ever ask for in a Batman film. I hate to cut this short, as I am about to leave to meet friends and go to my midnight show for TDKR, but then came Inception and I had sky-high expectations for that too, and even THAT film managed to exceed my expectations. In many ways I like Inception more than TDK.
Now we come to Rises. So in conclusion, there are many reasons why I like Nolan, but I've only listed some in a quick rush. He has an amazing ability to blend entertaining, enjoyable aspects combined with deeper, thoughtful aspects and philosophical aspects, and more recently adding some emotional aspects.
The biggest reason I mentioned above why I hold his Batman films in high regard is because he so far has shown almost everything I ever wanted to see in Batman films on screen. Now with Rises, my expectations are sky high of course, and I thoroughly expect to be stunned and my expectations exceeded. There are a few things I still want to see in a Batman film, and I am confident Rises will have that.
So farewell everyone for now, I will post after I get back from my midnight show, and let's all celebrate the historic record weekend that is about to occur!

Re: The Dark Knight Rises OW Record Club Of The Storm Is Her
Back from my midnight IMAX show ... quick thoughts, AMAZING and INCREDIBLE best describes it. Nolan has done it again.
The film equals TDK for me and Inception. I need to watch a few more times to get a final verdict on it. Off to bed now.
