I think long run times are good, because they lead to more sell-outs, hence more spillover to other shows and days. Titanic, Avatar, and ROTK were all quite long films, and they did OK.

Meaning people seeing 100-105+ million opening days are a bit crazy...

Avengers was 142 minutes. If they need the showtimes, they'll add 'em. No big deal.

The running time is a non-factor. We live in an era where it's expected a "proper," ambitious, serious tentpole release will be longer than two hours, often by 20-40 minutes. There are so many examples. Theatres can handle the scheduling.

Your math is weak. I said how it is possible sometime back. if that actually happens or not depends on if interest is there for it to increase in admissions. I would say it has a reasonable chance.

You cannot simply do x screens * avg # of seats * tickets sales.

Some theaters are much much much busier then others.

Some theaters will have the film and not be selling out all screens while other theaters will be overrun...

For example one theater in town will likely sellout all screen while the other will not sell out the late shows (well it could but it never has)

On the other hand, if opening day is not as high as it could have been, that means the Saturday drop won't be as high as it could have been either.

Why is every single piece of marketing for this film so, so good?

The trailers and TV spots are wonderful, but the art? Not so much.

Hey now. Some of the artwork has been wonderful.

Those are nice, but, in general, I wish the posters were more impressive.

These are for the things you'll see on party cups, paper plates, etc. They won't be in theaters or anything of the sort.

Yeah that looks more like artwork for products destined to kids: backpacks, plastic glasses, etc. I'm not even sure they are actually pictures, it looks more like drawings. Tom Hardy isn't that muscular in the film.

One thing I like is that as Bane is actually a tough character...

Indeed. It was smart to go with a villain defined by his fierce, imposing physicality. It would have been an enormous uphill battle, nearly impossible, to try to top the playful malevolence and Machiavellian plotting of Ledger's Joker.

How excited are you for the untold legend to begin in 2017?

The next Batman film should be stylized, closer to the Burton films, in my opinion. It's going to be boring and redundant if they try to continue with Nolan's grounded, crime-movie-with-Batman style.

There will be a sneak peak for TDKR during Falling Skies on TNT.

I really like that poster though, even if Batman himself is a bit off because WB seems insistent on using promotional shots from The Dark Knight.
