Re: The Dark Knight Rises OW Record Club of Tickets Now on S
Yep, just verified on their website. AMC averages 14.5 screens per theater, while the industry average for North America is 6.8 screens per theater. So AMC's 8% theater market share is misleading compared to how many screens it actually operates. http://www.amctheatres.com/Media/Defaul ... 2Q4_v2.pdf

I think I found it. It's around 13%. As of 2009, the theater owners said there were 39,233 screens in North America. As of March 2012, AMC says it operates 5,034 screens. That would put AMC at 12.83% market share. So if you take $1.5m and divide it by 0.13, you get $11.5 million in domestic pre-sales. That's probably more accurate than the earlier figure based on AMC's theater market share.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises OW Record Club of Tickets Now on S
Of course it isnt near 18 million; that would translate to like 100 million by the time it opens. The HUNGER Games had 10 million by comparison when it opened What people need to understand is at WORST, the walk ups to presales ratio should be something like 10 to 1. Maybe more like 15 to 1. Hunger games was 15 to 1 and Avengers like 25 to 1 IIRC. If TDKR TOUCHES 18 million in presales for opening weekend.....its going to CRUSH Avengers. 50/120/250. Midnights/Friday/Opening weekend That is where it is heading

Hunger Games had far more than $10m in presales when it opened. It sold 1 million tickets over Fandango on the Monday before. Either way, though, The Dark Knight Rises is looking massive in that division too.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises OW Record Club of Tickets Now on S
The pre-sale record is $32m by Potter, although that was calculated on the Wednesday before its release. It had another 24 hours to keep earning more cash before walk-up sales started for midnight shows. On Tuesday it was at $25m and went up $7m over the next 24 hours to reach $32m. It's safe to say that by the time walk-up sales started for midnight shows, it had $40-45m in pre-sales.

Finally bought my ticket today for a 7:15 showing for Friday at AMC Gulf Pointe 30 in LieMax. It may not be the REAL IMAX experiance, but it's convenient enough for me. Edwards is just too damn far and the traffic is hell coming from my house.
The only problem now is how early I should leave. Considering they only have ONE LieMax screen and I will be seeing it OD I might actually have to leave the house atleast 3 hours early to get in line in order get some good seats.

In the end presales mean something but its walk up that will drive TDKR to a record.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises OW Record Club of Tickets Now on S
Well the only way TDKR wins WW is if goes past Avatar.
lol I am already predicting 200 million OW but think the record is still in the air.
Reason being I think the film is not going to hold that well over the weekend because Friday will be so large.. Seeing a Weekend Multiplier around 2.15. Compared to 2.35 for TDK and 2.56 for TA.
So thats why I think anything over 215 million is unlikely.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises OW Record Club of Tickets Now on S
Press Release Confirms IS in The Dark Knight RisesEver since Batman Begins, fans have wondered if Cillian Murphy’s character as Dr. Jonathan Crane / The Scarecrow would be back for a sequel and a new press-release announcing the media alert for the The Dark Knight Rises European Premiere seems to point to the fact that he does appear in it. According to the release, the cast attending the premiere include: Quote: Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, , Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, , Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine. The fact that Murphy is listed may give the game away that he could appear. In what form and for how long we’ve no idea as yet but not too long to find out. Could it be a flash-back, a cameo? It could just be that since he’s been in the first couple of movies that he’ll be popping along to the premiere but like I say, we’ll have to wait and see!
Murphy seems to like appearing briefly in these smaller roles teasing a bigger one as we last saw him do exactly the same in Tron: Legacy back in 2010. http://www.heyuguys.co.uk/2012/06/29/pr ... ght-rises/

Re: The Dark Knight Rises OW Record Club of Tickets Now on S
I'm not surprised (Murphy and Nolan seem to get along very well), and I'm glad. Perhaps we will see him in prison this time.
I wonder if they'll find a way to incorporate Morgan Freeman into the primary action and intrigue again or if he'll have a smaller role.

You guys are on some gay shit with your infatuation over Nolan. He's a great filmmaker, no doubt, but saying stuff like "is this life" and "Godlan", makes it seem like you got hard-ons for the dude..
