 Re: Euro 2012 (Starting!)
Holy shit, Netherlands is leagues beteter than Denmark, but have some really bad luck. Awesome match, though. The Dutch are really at the top of their game.

 Re: Euro 2012 (Starting!)
Netherlands' passing has been incredible, but the shooting has just been off, especially from Van Persie. It feels like that first Barcelona/Chelsea CL match, where one team has 70% of the possessions and pretty much dominated the match but ended up losing.

 Re: Euro 2012 (Starting!)
This match is some great news for Germany, IMO. There is a great shot at becoming #1 in the group now.

 Re: Euro 2012 (Starting!)
Man, the Dutch are way better than that. The inaccuracy was surprising, I was expecting at least a draw. Netherlands are in trouble facing Germany next. xiayun wrote: Netherlands' passing has been incredible, but the shooting has just been off, especially from Van Persie. That is the comparison I made while watching it as well. Denmark played a grinder similar to Chelsea.

 Re: Euro 2012 (Starting!)
If Germany were to lose Portugal today, the next Dutch/Germany would essentially be an elimination game. That would be crazy.

 Re: Euro 2012 (Starting!)
My god, Germany escaped the 1st half 0-0. Pepe was completely unmarked and should have buried that shot. I about threw up when it hit the crossbar.
The Germans need to attack more and quit being so patient. Get more action in the box as well.

 Re: Euro 2012 (Starting!)
Portugal deserved a tie. They played good, disciplined defense throughout except for miss-marking the forward in that goal, and even that the ball took a deflection first; Ronaldo looked pretty dangerous each time he touched the ball on the left flank, and they generated a couple of great chances.
Germany's goalkeeper looked a little shaky to me; he had to punch a few balls out instead of catching it cleanly.

 Re: Euro 2012 (Starting!)
Yeah, the Gomez header was luck. Portugal played their best in the final 10 minutes, they were really dangerous.
Germany won't go deep in the tourney with that defense, it must improve.

 Re: Euro 2012 (Starting!)
Portugal did the best they could. They are just not good enough against Germany. Germany, on the other hand, played shitty over some period of time. They are capable of playing better and the techniques were great. They were just too damn SLOW. Still, clearly the better team overall, but if they play like this, they won't get past Semi-Finals.
Spain 2:0 Italy Ireland 1:2 Croatia

Spain 1:1 Italy Ireland 1:0 Croatia
Oddly last time I watched Ireland live was against Croatia in Dublin last year. As long as the match is not as turgid as that one I'll be happy.

Germany's goalkeeper looked a little shaky to me; he had to punch a few balls out instead of catching it cleanly. Honestly the Germans deserved the win. The Portuguese showed zero sign of a team interested in scoring till Gomez scored. Sometimes intent itself is enough to be deserving and the Germans as poor as they were at least went for the win from the off.

 Re: Euro 2012 (Starting!)
At halftime, Spain/Italy is looking a lot like Netherlands/Denmark. Spain dominated possession, & had more scoring chances. Brilliant save by Casillas on Matta though just before half -- that was Italy's best chance.

Good match for Spain/Italy. Italy is much stronger than I expected them to be.

 Re: Euro 2012 (Starting!)
A very good match, even with Balotelli wandering around and not into the match much at all until getting subbed.
