Geez I think you're way overhyping this Hunger Games thing. Even Boxoffice.com has got it at $75m OW. And remember the last couple of Twilight movies might be breaking records, but the first one only opened with $70m. + $125m for a franchise starter seems way too high, imo.

Adjust potter 2001, and spider-man 2002, there is a precedent. And the film happens to be the fastest selling in fandango history trumping all the twilight films.

Well you cant really compare this Hunger Games business with two of the most famous pop culture characters of all time. No way that general audiences have the same level of awareness of HG as they do of Potter and Spider-Man.

With current ticket prices you need like 40 milion tickets to make 300 million $. With a book trilogy that sold 23 milion books and is on top bestelling lists for few months now I would think that it has enough exposure to be a huge blockbuster.

No way that general audiences have the same level of awareness of HG as they do of Potter and Spider-Man. Good job ignoring the fact that THGs is outselling twilight and its sequels aka fastest fandango sellers ever, and THG series is popular and primed enough to be huge, especially on opening wknd with a now proven rabid fan-base. I never said the film would hold up well. Spider-Man: 70m tickets sold, adjusts over 550m Potter1: 56m tickets sold, adjust to around 450m I expect around 35m-45m (290m-350m) tickets to be sold for THG, thats fare less than what spidey and potter did, I hardly consider my examination an exact comparison, more a marker for what will soon come to pass. But I expect THG to perform more like the twilight series, aka gargantuan opening fallowed by hard falls. THG's fan-base is mostly a mix of twilight and potter fans, and since summer 2011 the book sales have gone crazy, especially in digital formats.

Ya, the book sales are awesome, last year there were not even 10m books in circulation. buy the end of the year THG's will have sold more books in 2012 than the 27.5m the twilight books sold in 2008.

Alright, I guess only time will tell. You guys probably know these things better than I do. But how come Boxoffice.com is lowballing it then with only $75m OW? Just wondering...
By the way, how do I display my profile pic on the left-hand side like yours?

This will be big but so far I think it will have trouble beating TDK total gross.

Yeah this will do great on the good will of the last two but will fall short of the last one with a $475-$510m total.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises $200+ million OW Club
Overseas it should get 500+ and likley 550+ overseas.
Overseas this year will not be big as last year.
Only film that will really totally dominate Globally will be the Hobbit.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises $200+ million OW Club
With the way 2012 has been going so far I can't see how this club doesn't atleast have a chance of happening. Summer 2012 should be the highest grossing summer ever and I'm expecting alot of suprises and this could very much be one of them. I'm not going to join though because I don't want to jinx it.
