 The River (ABC)
Seems solid. The Oren Peli/Steven Spielberg duo is intriguing. The jungle setting is cool. I'm always hoping for a solid horror TV series. I'll definitely watch the premiere tomorrow night.

I saw the first episode a few months ago. It's solid and there are some good scares and a good atmosphere. I'll probably tune in for the rest.

I'll definitely at least watch the pilot. The ads are fairly creepy.

 Re: The River (ABC)
I hope it's slower paced than American Horror Story, which was so nonstop lurid and over-the-top it blew its load too soon. Became tiresome.

 Re: The River (ABC)
I hate to agree with you but yes, while episode 11 is the best hour of tv ever produced, the finale felt..... just ... meh.

 Re: The River (ABC)
This isn't really a straight-up horror series like "American Horror Story" was. It has scares, but tonally it's similar to something like "Lost" and plays more like a thriller than anything else.

I will probably turn in for the pilot. The premise sounds interesting.

 Re: The River (ABC)
This was terrible. A real chore to sit through. I wanted to shut it off after 30 minutes. Forced myself to watch both episodes. Will not continue watching.

 Re: The River (ABC)
I'd give the two-part premiere a 6.5/10. Not as good as I hoped, but not bad either.
Atmosphere, good. A few creepy moments. The mythology could be interesting, though it's yet another series extremely indebted to Lost.
There's no real rooting interest, though. I couldn't care less at this point whether they find Emmet Cole or not. Dude seems to be a bit of a douche? Joe Anderson is all right as the son. The mom is annoying and dubious; not sure if it's how she's written or the poor quality of the actress' performance. Everyone else is a total type, though Thomas Kretschmann more or less reprising his King Kong role is cool.
And the commercials. Ugh, lol. Every time the atmosphere or suspense begins to blossom, it cuts to a loud J. C. Penney commercial.

I didn't give a damn about the characters at all. I don't see this show lasting.

Not sure if they are planning on additional seasons. I thought it was good overall and very creepy. Paul Blackhorn (the producer) and the guy who played the captain are the most interesting characters.

 Re: The River (ABC)
I believe they would have if it were successful enough, but it won't keep enough viewers for them to bother wanting any more, IMO.

 Re: The River (ABC)
I'm going to drop this. I tried. It's not COMPLETELY without merit. But it's just too lame overall.

 Re: The River (ABC)
Tried three times, couldn't make it through the first episode. Points for trying, but ultimately dull and phony
