Post Homeland Season 1
Everyone watch the pilot for this. It doesn't premiere till Oct 2. on Showtime but it's online - even legally actually, but illegally too.

It's just a marvellous pilot. It's like the Lives of Others with meets Castaway after Hanks comes back, in the post 9/11 security state paranoia. And the cast is insane. Claire Danes, Damian Lewis (if you watched 'Life', he was incredible in that), Mandy Patinkin, Morena Baccarin and all of them and the small actors kill it. It's one of those shows where the production/writing/directing values is just superior to just about every other show except Breaking Bad and Mad Men, and you know that everyone involved is a pro storyteller

My only reservation is there's a game changer reveal at the end of the episode that frankly, could've waited a while, since I was that impressed by everything up to that point without it. You never want to shoot your load too early on TV. But again, it feels like they know exactly where this is going, in a good way, so I'm not horribly concerned

Just a reminder, this premieres after Dexter. I've watched the pilot twice and might go back for a 3rd helping if I'm not busy that night

I'll check it out since I like shows like Sleeper Cell from a few years ago. It also helps that its Meta score is at 90%. I think thats the bestscore of any debut tv show ever

I wouldnt say its up there with Breaking Bad but its a pretty good show. It has more in common with Manchurian Candidate than 24. Are they planning to use Brody for the next few seasons because I cant see how far his rogue soldier storyline will go beyond 1 season?

This was fabulous. Claire Danes, in particular.

Really good pilot.

I think they will go the 24 route and make the viewer believe that he really is the terrorist they're looking for and then throw a curveball like Walker still being alive and turning out to be the real turned POW

This is definitely the best new show of the season. Granted, it's the only one I'm watching, but it's hard to imagine anything else being better than this. Compelling, nuanced, and utterly fantastic. Damian Lewis is a helluva actor.

This show is GREAT. The second episode was just as good as the pilot.

Yeah, excellent show is excellent. It really feels like these characters could say anything and I'd be sold on it cause the writing and acting is that good

Also showed some humor and personality last episode which only helps

The last 3 episodes were just god mode. Somehow a level up even from the great first 2 episodes. Best show presently airing

The only thing I'd say is, man they ripped through the Lynn the escort, Feleez the engineer, interrogation guy plot setups quickly. I trust these writers and their planning, but there's a reason shows milk great setups like that for an entire season, it's hard to keep coming up with original plots at this pace for 5 seasons or w/e

I like the show but I wouldnt say I love it. Its so hard not to compare it to 24 but 24 seems to push the pace much faster than Homeland. The revelations are going little too slow and we learn nothing really new about Brody. Im betting its a swerve again like Brody not being the Sleeper Cell but Mandy's character being the mole.

This.

I want the season to end with Carey realizing she's in fact a brainwashed turned agent.

Other than the general theme of terrorism, this is nothing like 24. Why do you have to compare the two? Just because it's not as fast-paced as 24 doesn't mean it's not as good.

I didnt say it wasnt good. Besides the 24 comparisons will pop up since its by the same producers. My general complaint is we havent gotten a revelation yet . The last few episodes is getting some of the same repetition of Brody being awkward around his wife and his boy

Complainers to the left 'cuz this show is spectacular, in every regard. The pacing on this show is very methodical and deliberate...it wouldn't be as good if they were giving you too much info all at once. And as much as I liked 24, they're really not similar other than the terrorism angle.

I wonder why Brody would bother lying about the adultery (since it's not a crime). Perhaps to prove to Carrie that he can pass a polygraph?

In any case, this show keeps getting better.

Maybe he knows that Carrie is two faced. He kept staring at the one way mirror when he gave that answer. Who can blame him since he already knows he had to live with betrayal as soon as he came back with his best friend sleeping with his wife.

The Good Soldier was possibly the strongest episode so far. Claire Danes and Damian Lewis better at least get Emmy nominations.

I think what I love most is that I really don't know what's going on, in a good way.

I'm surprised they revealed so much so soon, but I'm glad they did. Though I hope it just doesn't turn into a 24 ripoff now.

Awesome, awesome, awesome. Just an entirely riveting hour of TV. I'm weirdly relieved Brody is innocent (or so we've been led to believe). And man, was Damian Lewis phenomenal in this episode or what?
