Post Doctor Who Series 6
Typically great premiere. The silents are a great monster gimmick.

Who killed the doctor?! My guess is that its another version of the doctor. I hope we get answers to that stuff next week. I don't want to wait for the mid-season finale. And I know they're not going to give us any answers to River Song; I need something. Tell me who killed the damn doctor!

OMG, The Impossible Astronaut was AMAZING.

The Silent didn't scare me when he showed up, but he had my friends all screeching and hiding.

That is, not until he uttered, "Joy. Her name was Joy." I am now officially FREAKED THE FREAK OUT.

I can't wait for Saturday to see how everything turns out!

BTW, did you notice all the instances of the color purple in the episode? The Doctor's bowtie (a grayish purple), braces, and shirt (very light lavender stripes); plus Old!Canton's shirt (purple in the pattern) and ballcap. Additionally, a neon light shining into the building in Florida through the window (when the Doctor and River have their "you find me hot" "shut up" exchange), and a lot of the lighting in the "Lodger" console room at the end.

Last season, the main colors were red and blue. Red + blue = purple. There was an emphasis on the "TARDIS blue" in this week's episode. TARDIS (blue) + Amy (redhead) = purple.

I think there may be some significance to the color. WHAT significance, I don't know, but I feel like it may be important.

Or it could just be something geeks obsess over, just like how all the characters wearing numbered t-shirts in Buffy: Season 6 must mean something. :P

I dunno. Colors have played a pretty important role in Moffat's Doctor Who; last season, the color of the Doctor's bowtie/shirt/braces corresponded to whether he was in the past or present/future.

Not particularly. In his little flashback in The Big Bang, he's wearing the blue bow tie in The Lodger, the red bow tie in The Time of Angels, etc. The only time wardrobe matters is when he's wearing the jacket when he comes back for Amy in ToA. And even then, it's nothing as silly as "TARDIS blue + Amy's hair = purple!"

OMG, I know. Part 2 was amazing! And so many questions unanswered!

Doesn't look like we'll get any answers next week, but from all the hype I've heard, I think Neil Gaiman's episode after next week's should at least further the overall season arc.

Next week looks like fun. Bit of a breather. Love that it's called "The Curse of the Black Spot."

I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE, TPTB.

I don't know if Gaiman's episode is an arc episode. After all, it was written for last series. To my knowledge, the 'main arc episodes' are 1, 2, 7, 8, and 13.

Hmmm... maybe it won't "further the overall season arc" like I said, but I think there are going to be things happening in it that will definitely tie in to the season arc.

Well... Obviously this week's episode wasn't nearly as interesting as the previous two-parter, considering how quiet it is in here this week.

I liked the episode. It was certainly more fun than Victory of the Daleks, Love & Monsters, or Fear Her. I wasn't expecting much from this episode, anyway, considering the writer was the same guy who wrote the dismal second episode of Sherlock.

But again, I like this. There are plotholes you can throw a Death Star through (where the hell did the pirate in the armory go?!), but still... I like pirates, and I loved the riffing done on all the cliches.

Plus, I rather liked the actor playing the Captain, and I thought the very end was a fun image (though slightly worrying, having pirates being loosed onto the universe; however, I get a feeling they're a bit more Jack Sparrow and a bit less Davy Jones).

Very interesting bit with the eye-patch lady. Can't wait to find out what on earth is going on there.

This coming Saturday's episode is gonna be SO. AWESOME. Gaiman is amazing, this episode went through some 11-odd drafts (so it definitely got close attention, unlike this week's), and we get to see more of the TARDIS than we've ever seen in nuWho.

Can't wait!

The Doctor's Wife might be the best episode of the Moffat era.

Oh, it totally is. Was out of town for the last three eps, so haven't had the chance to post my reaction here.

LOVED, LOVED, LOVED The Doctor's Wife. I would totally not hate it if Neil Gaiman ever decided he wanted to become showrunner for DW. He knows and understands the mythology of this nearly-50-year show SO FREAKING WELL.

Liked the "Flesh" two-parter. Wasn't as good as The Doctor's Wife, but you could've played "Blink" after TDW and be disappointed. Great cliffhanger for this coming week's ep, for sure. Didn't call it until the first episode of the two-parter.
