Horrendous drop for Mad Black Woman, considering the other two new releases, Cursed and Man of the House, increased as everybody else did. Only an expected theater expansion will prevent its weekend drop from looking silly. The PTA decline will be quite huge though.

Well, so much for Diary of a Mad Black Woman. It's dropping incredibly fast. When Cursed, Man of thse House, Son of the Mask, and Constantine all increase, and one movie doesn't, that's saying something.

Excellent for Million Dollar Baby. I think it will have a great increase this weekend.

The comedy seeking audience that flocked to see Diary must have found out they were burned yet again by mediocrity.
Awesome for Million Dollar Baby, and nice for Sideways.
Hitch just continues showing why Will Smith deserves his paycheck.

Week-to-week:
Hitch -45.3%
Million Dollar Baby 54.4%
Constantine -54.3%
Because of Winn-Dixie -58%
The Aviator -21.8%
Sideways -24.2%
Son of the Mask -45.4%
Are We There Yet? -59%
Last week's daily numbers were probably a little inflated due to some schools having the week off, and that makes MDB's increase even more impressive. It could get to $10M this weekend, especially if it expands.

I fully expect expansion, since it's expanded every week since it's been released. I've seen some people predicting 10 million, and that's lowballing it, for sure.

Not if it has a huge expansion, especially in the case of Cursed, which is just destined to drop near 60%.

It...doesn't...have...bad...WOM.
It's frontloaded. The urban audiences rushed out. It will probably have a drop over 50%, but it's not because of hatred.

Audiences tend to be more sympathetic than critics. They're likely to enjoy Diary of a Mad Black Woman, as it's supposedly funny but just uneven. Audiences won't notice plot issues as much, as they aren't looking for a "good" film as much as they're looking for a "good" time.

I cant believe how many people are ignoring the fact that DIARY OF A MAD BLACK WOMANS marketing tricked ALOT of people into seeing it.
Not many guys who went to see this movie probobly knew it was a dramedy about romance.

Nor do I. Any movie with a $15000 opening PTA will likely be accepted into new theaters, without question. If it can get an additional 500 theatres, I doubt anything higher than 50%.

I wouldn't be suprised if the drop Tuesday is an anomoly. With an audience that is so old and so female, I have a hard time seeing a big drop even without an expansion.

Yeah, it's probably gonna perform somewhat like Coach Carter.
