How I Met Your Mother - Season 6
Only three weeks until the new season begins and this season looks and sounds like it'll be at least on Season 4 level but also possibly Season 2/3. So what we know so far about this season is (somewhat spoilery): Rachel Bilson will return as Cindy for the season premiere. The season premiere takes place at a wedding with Cindy and Ted in attendance (is this possibly Ted's wedding?) The creators have said this season will be "the start of the final act" of the series. The season premiere is said to be "taking a little trip forward…to get a glimpse of a huge, huge day in Ted’s life." Barney will go on a search to find his real father (leaving behind the Bob Barker theory). Wayne Brady will return as Barney's brother. Robin Sparkles will return this season. Anyway I can't wait for my favorite show currently to return.

Well I mean you have Lily and Marshall ready to have a baby, something big happening to Robin most likely soon and then Ted actually getting into a relationship with the mother sometime soon so yeah that can kind of shape that final act.

Same Old Story. and then Ted actually getting into a relationship with the mother sometime soon * soon? Well we have been teased before. Sarah Chalke and others. so yeah that can kind of shape that final act. * so unless we know when it is ending, seems like mostly same old story, as they will continue to just try to fool everyone.

I don't want to know who the mother is until the last episode. That being said, I think that season 7 should be it... Thinking of season 9 is just.... Hmmm, Not really. They lost a big chunk of momentum in season 5.

Re: How I Met Your Mother - Season 6
Looking forward to the new season.
It's too late to go back in time, but I kind of wish they had set up the HIMYM premise a little different. I think setting every show up at the beginning reminding you this is a story he is telling his kids presents a few problems.
It would have been better if the pilot started off with him telling his kids in the undefined future about a wider story of his young adult years and how he met their mother, and then drop that completely until you bookend it with the finale.
Again, love the show, just hate they backed themselves in a corner with this plotline.
Then again, they could always get creative and meet the mother in season 6, and then throw in a twist and start a new story. "Kids, you're adopted!"

Re: How I Met Your Mother - Season 6
Jennifer Morrison (formerly Cameron on House) has rebounded from being unceremoniously dumped from that show: Quote: It’s official: Former House doc Jennifer Morrison is joining the cast of How I Met Your Mother as Zooey, Ted’s new love interest.
And she’s not just any love interest. Zooey’s “the biggest female character we’ve maybe ever added to the show in Ted’s life,” exec producer Craig Thomas declared to EW.com last month. “This is a big arc—a huge arc. It’s going to be a little less date-of-the-week for Ted, which season 5 was.”
So, who exactly is Zooey? As I teased yesterday, she’s a rabble-rousing activist who’s hell-bent on saving the Arcadian, an old New York hotel that’s scheduled to be torn down to make way for the Goliath National Bank tower—which Ted just so happens to be designing.
Cue fireworks!
Thomas describes the Ted-Zooey dynamic as “very complicated and interesting.” Adds fellow EP Carter Bays: “This is going to be a big saga for Ted. [It's] going to be a big overarching story that will take Ted on a journey that we’re really excited about.”
Although Thomas doesn’t come out and ID Morrison as the titular mama, he does concede that season 6 gets “back to the fact that Ted is the ‘I’ in How I Met Your Mother. There’s going to be a huge push forward for Ted on that search. http://ausiellofiles.ew.com/2010/09/09/ ... other-ted/

Great season premiere!
Definitely already feels like they're getting back into the long arc storyline routine and that was a nice reveal into the future at the end. Robin was particularly funny in this episode as was Marshall telling everyone in the office he's trying to have a baby with Lily.

Also... The first thought that popped into my head at the end of the episode was that it was Barney's wedding.

Re: How I Met Your Mother - Season 6
Season 5 admittedly was not the greatest, but I thought last night's premiere was a return to form. Funny and heartwarming, with some good "mysteries" left in the open.
I guess we were meant to speculate the wedding might be Barney and Robin's, which I kind of hope isn't the case. That seems too obvious, though, so I think it's Bays and Thomas with the red herring. It could be a member of Ted's family, since Lily didn't necessarily appear to be maid of honor/a bridesmaid when she appeared.
I see good things, storyline-wise, for Lily and Marshall trying to have a baby. Their conflict was believable and not over-the-top like some of their stuff last year was.
Nice to see Rachel Bilson again. This show always does a good job of making you feel the warm fuzzies for even the minor guest star characters who get their happy endings.

Re: How I Met Your Mother - Season 6
I was a bit underwhelmed with the premiere. It wasn't charmingly funny and sweet as HIMYM is when at its best. Though I did love Lily's and Marshall's baby talk the most. That definitely felt like a genuine HIMYM moment.
I think they need to bring Barney back to Earth a bit or turn him into something more than one dimensional gigolo. That worked great for the first two seasons and then they finally started to do something more with the character in season 3 and 4 and it really worked. Why they did the whole reverse thing in season 5 is beyond me. They went into the annoying territory with too much of him last season and I wasn't really thrilled with stupid dibs part and blabber talk and made up scene that followed it.

Re: How I Met Your Mother - Season 6
Another great episode tonight.
Definitely one of the more serious sides of Barney we've seen. Nice to see Wayne Brady back as well.
I liked Marshall's little joke near the beginning on Ted trying to find his soulmate. Nice for the creators to poke fun at the people who only watch the show to know who the mother is and keep complaining.
Also Ted and Robin's little back and forths were good.

Awesome episode. Where's the poop Robin? is another classic line and the whole unfinished business/things/relationships was done great.

Re: How I Met Your Mother - Season 6
I loved Subway Wars. LOVED. My favorite episode of HIMYM in a really long time.
The 24-style split screens! The interactive maps with floating heads! Marshall's awesomely ridiculous folk song (the held note at the traffic light)! Lily understanding Conductor Speak! Ted being The Crazy Person on the Bus! Ted and Marshall beating up the calculator! Barney being sweet and kind! Lily and Marshall being all cute together! Robin becoming a real New Yorker! Maury Povich showing up everywhere! The return of Ranjit!
Episodes like this are why I fell in love with this show 5 years ago.

This was one of the better episodes of how I met your mother I've seen in a long time and possibly top 5 of the series. I really thought it was unbelievably great

Re: How I Met Your Mother - Season 6
Liked last night's episode a lot.
Ted on the poster in the wizard costume was priceless. Also, it was nice to see Jennifer Morrison as Zoey, under lighter circumstances than playing the drab Cameron on House for years (and I'm glad to see she got this gig after she was abruptly fired from that show).
Barney saying "boobs?" all episode was quite funny. Lily and Robin gossiping about Max's "small penis" and Marshall's freakout over it felt humorous and true to life, as well. Women totally do discuss things like that in painstaking detail.

Re: How I Met Your Mother - Season 6
I love loved last night's episode.
Highlights were for me:
- Marshall and Lily going through kid's names and Lily denying most of them because they were names of kids he hated in the kindergarten class she taught - Barney trying to hook up with ladies speaking like a little kid - Ted's use of "not what it sounds like" - Marshall imagining his daughter marrying Barney in the future
I really like Marshall and Lily's storyline this season.
