Thegun wrote: I don't think so, The Sox pitching just really clicked and stepped up today. Bard was huge in the 7th, Francona knew when to take Pap and Bard out, and they did a great job. Good battle by hughes, I didn't expect him to stay in as long as he did. For starters, here were two huge plays. Not pinch hitting for Granderson with the bases loaded and no one out. And not having Gardner steal after pinch running and no one out against Bard.

Wow your so cool, a pathetic loser who has nothing better to do than wasting time posting in a thread where you aren't saying anything. Fucking retard of the next generation. Ps. I am not sure which of your names are stupider. Chipo is embarrassing. And DiCaprio is really lame. You wanna be.

I agree with Leiter though in that situation, they were ready to throw out neither of the other replacements had great records against Bard, and Bard was not going to let Gardner steal, they shouldn't have taken any stupid chances that late in the game. The yankees have just not been effective in Pinch hit situation this year. I'm pissed TB didn't lose again though.

I still would take Gardner hitting against Bard than Granderson against Lester with the bases loaded and none out. And then Gardner goes in and plays Center. So everything works perfectly. And lots more pressure on Bard also.

Re: 2010 Major League Baseball Discussion
Bard's not really someone who gets pressured though. He basically just throws hard strikes the entire time.

Thegun wrote: Bard's not really someone who gets pressured though. He basically just throws hard strikes the entire time. well he did give up 2 hits and 1 walk in 4 outs so he isn't perfect. and Gardner is close to 300 with speed, so who knows how it would have turned out.

Nice sweep of the Royals. Walk off by Abreu couldn't be more appropriate since he did all the work this series.

Re: 2010 Major League Baseball Discussion
Gun, So today's really horrible Red Sox loss brings up so many past questions.
* is Paps really the best reliever in baseball, like you said a week ago.
* what about the RS manager today. Starting Lackey in the 9th and then pulling Paps for Bard.
* and lots more pressure of Bard today as he needed a strikeout with the winning, not tying run, on 3rd.
Just some for starters.

Re: 2010 Major League Baseball Discussion
It was a bad game, what do you want, like your last three, almost four if that Texas closer was even decent. I'd still put Pap against any closer in baseball. I really just dislike Lackey, I expect almost every game for him to pitch to be a loss now. Such a bad grab from the angels. I'd put Wakefield above him now (Though it wasn't Lackey's fault we lost) Closer's blow saves all the time.
One game does not constitute so many questions. TF is without a doubt the best Manager in baseball right now with what he has been able to do with the Sox. They in all honesty have no business being a top 5 baseball team, but they are just straight up dirty.

Re: 2010 Major League Baseball Discussion
Gun I think there is lots to talk about on the Red Sox but since I am on my cell I will keep it to these 2 topics.
1. Paps this year. 6 blown saves. 5 losses. 3.25 era. Really bad for a closer.
2. Whatever on how they got here. All teams have injuries and problems. But since they were 4 games behind Tampa with 1/3 of the season to play with most of there team back. We will see how good a manager TF is.
****
And on tonights game. PU. Beckett, Bard and why the offense again goes to sleep.
And on TF, he sure doesn't seem like a genius right now as his moves are f'ing up.
And if the Red Sox didn't blow the last 2 games then, they would be only 2 back of Tampa for the WC.

Yanks win. 3 homers b Arod. And Red Sox still in the 9th so there is still a chance they will blow it. LOL.

Thegun wrote: Yeah, the Yankees are doing really good against KANSAS CITY. And too bad Grill. Hey Gun, Jealous Much? Or you just mad that I questioned TF and pointing out how close Boston was to the WC. So you Boston people can stop whinning about past Boston injuries. Cause like I said above, if Boston and TF don't blow those 2 games, they would have only have been 2 out of the WC. And yeah the Yankees must be doing OK against others also I guess. Since they have the best record in baseball!!! And they did take 2 from Boston a week or so.

Well Glad another Boston pitcher fucked up so the Yankees still have a 7 game cushion on losing a playoff spot.
Come on TF, you could have been ahead of Tampa already but bad managing is making it easy on the Yanks and Tampa.

So remember when Francisco Rodriguez beat up his girlfriend's dad? So apparently he injured his hand while doing it and is now out for the season. Couldn't have happened to a classier guy.

Pedroia returns!
Detroit??? Really Grill?? Have you guys done better than tie a series this month, how are you going to do when the last 31-40 games are against teams over .500? Keep up the bad work.

Well all teams have ups and downs but..... Great as this is just another chance for TF to show how good of a manager he is. Considering he already blew it this month as he could have been in front of Tampa.
