NYTimes had a very funny editorial today about 'the curse'... Anothe cursed team seems to be Chicago Cubs and in this year postseason teams with more former Cubs players on their rosters ended up losing:
Yankees had 6 former Cubbies, Boston only one... Now, Cardinals have three...
EDITORIAL
Curses
Published: October 22, 2004
There have been more prayerful events at Yankee Stadium, but they usually involve incense, an altar and a pope.
The battle for the American League championship was gripped by mystical fervor. Fans on both sides mumbled, chanted, rocked, hugged themselves, wore caps inside-out like fetishes and waved signs invoking hexes, destiny and magic numbers: 26, 1918, 1986. Others visited Babe Ruth's grave in Westchester with offerings to reverse - or reinforce - the curse of losing that has afflicted the Red Sox since Woodrow Wilson's day.
The ground ball that ended Game 7 at a minute after midnight yesterday plunged the Yankee faithful into doom and disillusion. Sox fans were born again, and now await the World Series with a brand-new hope that predestination may be overrated.
No offense to true believers, but the series was spectacular even without the supernatural element. It was night after night of amazing marathon baseball, creating sleep-deprived zombies all along the Eastern Seaboard. The Yankees, chisel-jawed professionals, were the underdogs, but they dominated from the start and didn't surrender until the very last day. The Red Sox, hairy guys with filthy helmets (and an ownership that, we must mention, includes The New York Times Company), called themselves the "idiots" - too stupid, maybe, to know they should give up and lose. They didn't.
Was it fate? Who knows? But only a fool would say the Curse of the Bambino is dead. The Yankees are not its only enforcers. It applies to the World Series, which means Sox fans may yet face suffering more horrible than any they have ever known.
And we must warn you of another, less familiar mystical force: the ex-Cub factor. The idea is that the Chicago Cubs are so poisoned by failure that the team with more ex-Cubs loses the Series. In the playoffs, the Yankees had the most ex-Cubs: six. St. Louis had three; Houston only one. Boston, with two ex-Cubs, may be safe because the hex seems to require a minimum of three. It has been broken only twice since 1945, by the 1960 Pirates and the 2001 Diamondbacks. Each time, the Yankees lost in Game 7, in the bottom of the ninth.
Coincidence? Or curse?
HERE is the LINK... (Might require registration but I have posted the complete article above  )

No. God just wants to laugh in Boston's face. But having the word "saint" in their name sure doesn't hurt them.

Sox are chickens, going for a double play, walking Pujols... I know it's smart decision, but still...
