Re: The Official FIFA WORLD CUP 2010 thread
What Magnus said.
This was a VERY ugly game. I expected the Dutch to lower themselves to this level, but Spain was, in a sense, even more disappointing, because they can be better than that. I just think this being the final got the better of both sides, and it showed. Horrible sportsmanship.

What? Spain didn't play dirty.
Both games weren't particularly good games.

I didn't notice a particularly large amount of noticeable acting. You're exaggerating.

Re: The Official FIFA WORLD CUP 2010 thread
The deserving team won in the end, and Spain still displayed the kind of possession football that has been the trademark of this team and generated much more chances. Netherlands needed to capitalize on the few opportunities they got but failed.

Re: The Official FIFA WORLD CUP 2010 thread
Spain deserved this and all the "acting" comments are exaggerated. The Dutch were the assholes of the match.
That said, the match wasn't very exciting. All the foul play was the most interesting thing about the match. 13 cards, right?

Re: The Official FIFA WORLD CUP 2010 thread
Oh and I agree with Box, Forlan and Müller being the big winners among ther players is so so well deserved!! Forland could really handle the ball well in the tournament and Müller was just unstoppable.
Glad neither Villa nor Sneijder got any of the major awards.

Re: The Official FIFA WORLD CUP 2010 thread
Good for Forlan and really deserved. And from the games I have seen him playing for Atletico de Madrid, he also seems like a fair and humble player with good sportsmanship. Villa or Sneijder, although good players, are not as vital for their teams as Forlan is for Uruguay. Nothing to object to Müller's deserved young player award, although like with Villa or Snejder, I don't think he is as essential for his team as is the case with Forlan.
And the Dutch should be really happy that they ended the match with still ten players. I have never seen Holland play so dirty. They looked more like Argentinians than Dutch.

Re: The Official FIFA WORLD CUP 2010 thread
I'd argue that Müller and to an extent Villa are essential for their teams. Sneijder, yeah, that I agree on.

Brazil vs Spain would have been a game so much better. Screw you, Dutch, for kicking out Brazil!

Re: The Official FIFA WORLD CUP 2010 thread
De Jong was despicable.
Having slept on this, I'm glad the Dutch lost, because their play was simply shameful and unworthy of the greatness of their country's football history.
Congratulations Spain!
