 Re: NHL 2009-2010 Season
Well, now Philly seems to be making a series out of it, which is nice. If it can go to seven games, the ratings should be pretty impressive.

How anti-climatic was that goal?

JR should've stuck with the Hawks.

 Re: NHL 2009-2010 Season
WOW, Halak just got traded to St. Louis. For some Lars Eller prospect
Price better be on his game next year! It will be LOLZ if he cracks and Halak is near the top of the league. Poor guy.

 Re: NHL 2009-2010 Season
I understand they couldn't keep both Halak and Price, but you'd think that they could've gotten more for the former. I could see trading Price for two prospects, but not their newly anointed playoff hero. This is the kind of deal that wrecks a franchise.

Cam Neely becomes president of the Bruins. If they had announced he would also be the head coach then I think I'd be a little more excited about it, but I like that Cam is becoming more and more involved with the team.

 Re: NHL 2009-2010 Season
Deals so far: Gonchar to Senators (5.5 mil per) Volchenkov to Devils (4.25 per) Hamhuis to Vancouver (4.5 mil per) Paul Martin to Pittsburgh (5 mil per) Zbynek Michalek to Pittsburgh (4.5 mil per) Boogaard to NYR (1.65 mil per for 4 years. HAHAHAHA. Dude plays 5 minutes a game and has 0 goals the last 4 years) Jokinen back to Calgary (3 mil per) - Another classic
Leafs also traded for Versteeg from Chicago and signed Colby Armstrong (3 mil per)
Great day for Pitt and Vancouver IMO. Pitt still needs some wingers, but they are loaded defensively now, which is scary when you have Crosby and Malkin. Vancouver needed one more high end dman last year, now they have it. I like the Volchenkov deal for NJD, but losing Martin makes it a lateral day for them IMO.
Sather and Sutter are awesomely bad

 Re: NHL 2009-2010 Season
I'm just glad Boogaard is out of our division.
Edmonton continues to overpay free agents. They have the money now, but still.
Calgary is gonna blow next year.

 Re: NHL 2009-2010 Season
So in addition to the trade the Bruins made that moved Wideman to the Panthers for Horton and Campbell (great trade), and the talk about Thomas being dealt, apparently Savard might be traded too with Seguin on the team now. The latest rumor had him going to Calgary for defenseman Robyn Regehr straight-up. If there is any truth to it and if Chiarelli pulls the trigger, it'd be the dumbest trade in Bruins history. Defense sure as hell wasn't the Bruins problem last year (and injuries on offense sure didn't help), so why trade the best playmaker for another guy on defense? That makes no sense. If they're going to trade Savard, at least package Thomas in the deal and get another goal scorer out of it.
And Seguin...19? Really? You couldn't have gone with a different number?

 Re: NHL 2009-2010 Season
I'm not sure if there's any truth to it, but the latest rumor has Savard and Blake Wheeler leaving town as part of a Senators-Flames-Bruins three-way deal. Unless the player coming back is either named Iginla or Alfredsson, it's not going to get too many fans around here excited. Hell, at least get someone of the same value.

 Re: NHL 2009-2010 Season
Kovalchuk just signed a 17-year, $102 million deal to stay with the Devils. I guess the Islanders aren't the only ones who like to waste money.
The only good part about the deal is that he'll only be making half a million a season in the last five years, so buying him out or him retiring won't be such a big deal.

 Re: NHL 2009-2010 Season
The Bruins are apparently fine with what they have and aren't looking to make any more moves. I think this is the smartest thing they could do at this point. Trading Savard or Wheeler could've been disastrous. And why not have someone like Savard groom Seguin? He might as well learn from one of the best playmakers in the NHL.
I like where the Bruins stand right now. I think if they can stay relatively healthy next year, they might have a decent playoff run in them.
