Never thought of it that way. But I doubt Cursed will be that lucky. It's becoming harder and harder for movies to perform miracle grosses like that nowadays.

Terrible for Cursed. Finally, a horror movie underperforms.

Impressive opening for Mad Black Woman but it could be frontloaded.

Constatine's drop is expected for its genre. It doesn't indicate bad wom nor good.

I'm surprised that Son of the Mask dropped that much because it is kids movie. Is word of mouth really that bad? #-o

Well, if Son of the Mask made 0.85 on Friday it could finally make ~3.5m this weekend... but I doubt it will make more than 4m... :-k

 at Diary. Wow, Oprah really does have influence.
 at Constantine, though it was expected. Hopefully it will have a good multiplyer and being able to get $12M+.
Not sure whether to put a HAW HAW, shock, and crying at Cursed, it's the first horror dissapointment of the year (although, that's just because all the other horrors have spoiled us). I still want to see it.

Wow.

And I thought Libs was being a litttttle too optimistic with her $16 million prediction. :)

Good call Libs, I had a feeling Diary would do well from all the buzzing around my area, but I was thinking 13-15 million, not 20!

Constantine's drop was expected, it'll end up with just over 55% for the weekend, which isn't half bad compared to Blade, Resident Evil, The Punisher or Dawn of the Dead. :)

Hitch just keeps rolling, it's a monster.

I never thought Man of the House would do well, so I'm not dissapointed, but that SUCKS for Cursed. Dimensions dropped the ball again. Let's hope they don't make the same mistake with The Amityville Horror.

Son of the Mask fell at least 50% from last Friday!!!

Love that we have a huge surprise at #1.

Love that Hitch is only down by 33% despite intense competition.

Love that Million Dollar Baby and Sideways had sizable bumps.

Ha, and you said they were going to get small declines.

No, CURSED won't be like SCREAM. Movies used to have incredible legs like that thanks to lower screen counts and less movies being released at once. Things aren't like that anymore.

And if a horror movie had to underperform it should have been something like BOOGEYMAN instead.

The cast has *not* been on Oprah's show. They will be on her show next Friday, so expect good numbers for the second weekend.

It will do very well this Sunday. I think a lot of the audience will be going to see this film after church. Don't forget that this is a Christian film.

The Aviator and Sideways increased after losing theaters. Aviator should be near $100 mil with its Oscar boost next weekend.

So what if he is 40 and Zing is 16..what bearing does that have on the situation? Zing is a mod, if he is a mod, he obviously is experienced in discussion and seeing as though this is a forum, he's going to have to live with it.

No offense to Zing, just questioning the ever silly lovemerox.

...only joking LMR, youre cool really.

I hate that damn BLACK WOMAN now :P

I definitely won't be seeing it in theaters or DVD now. No chance in hell.

CURSED should be the real one on top. It's unfair that it made more than BOOGEYMAN, a piece of shit film that doesn't deserve the success that it is recieving.

I mean, can you believe the potential Wes Craven had for this movie CURSED before DIMENSION got a hold of it and totally fucked this movie up to no end??? :-k This whole PG-13 crap has to stop and it's gonna cease when Amityville Horror arrives and these studios with the perpetual hardons for this sort of thing take a good, long look at how an Excellent R-Rated Horror can bring in the same numbers as a shitty PG-13 Horror can and go back to R-Rated Horror for good, that's if there smart enough to do so, but I doubt it.. ](*,)

I have to be honest though, there are some horror films that can easily be left as PG-13. The Grudge and The Rign were both ok for PG-13 (though I did not like The Grudge) and making them R might have actually affected not only their box office potential but also their quality.

Films like Cursed, Amittyville Horror and Darkness should have been left as R rated films though.

No, you still have The RING II left which is PG-13.. None of this will end til the real deal arrives on April 15th with The Amityville Horror... Then we'll see real horror at it's finest.. =D>

He means Jaume Balaguero's DARKNESS, which it cut by around 10 minutes for PG-13 theatrical release last December.
