Post Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
so Pujolis gets NL MVP - unfortunately I didn't get to see him enough to comment....but I did notice during the year that the Cardinals were tied withthe Cubs until Holladay got there - AND was Holliday more of an MVP than Pujolis the second half of the year?????

Also as they downgraded Tex numbers when giving it to Mauer....I see the results in the NL were Pulojis - Hanley Rameriz - Ryan Howard????

So how come they give bonus numbers to Pujolis but not to Howard who had a monster year and was more important to the Phillies - plus RBI leader - than Pujolis to the Cardinals, proberly.

Pujols was probably the MVP of the entire MLB.

So why do you think he was the MVP of the entire MLB. Lay your reasons on me.

You would not understand, as you have obviously shown to know nothing about anything.

Pujols led the majors in home runs (47), runs (124), slugging percentage (.658) and intentional walks (44), and topped the NL in on-base percentage (.443). He was second in the league in doubles (45) and third in batting average (.327) and RBIs (135).

He was especially dangerous with the bases loaded, going 10 for 17 with five grand slams, three doubles and 35 RBIs.

See Chip know how to copy & paste. Good Job!

and Great! Those OFFENSIVE numbers won him the Hank Aaron award for the best Offensive numbers...with no defensive awards like Tex of the Yankees.

but why should he have won the MVP - which means Most Valuable Player to his team. Since the Cards have two 19 game winners and the 4th best pitching staff in baseball and Matt Holiday....

and compared to Ryan Howard or Hanley Ramirez.

He played better offense than Howard/Ramirez. And they're all about equal defensively. Which means Pujols wins.

and then how about in the AL, considering everything off, def and the fact that Mauer barely played over 100 games. Big different playing 109 games or 155 range.

Roy Halladay said he's not resigning so it's pretty assured he's getting dealt.

My dream deal:

Red Sox get:
Roy Halladay
Vernon Wells

Blue Jays get:
drunk

yes, Wells' contract is THAT bad

I always heard wells contract was horrible. Have to check it out and see why.

Anyway. Can't be worse than the 18 million a year from Andrew Jones old contract. Think he had the 4th biggest one I baseball.

And just saw that he just signed up with a new team for 500 K fir this year.

Wells' deal

2010 - 16.1 mil
2011 - 26.6 mil
2012 - 24.6 mil
2013 - 24.6 mil
2014 - 24.6 mil

Amazing... Meanwhile this team is going into financial crunch mode like the As/Twins and dropping its payroll to 60 mil or something. Having Vernon right now is like the sports team apocalypse

I'd probably do this deal if we took JD Drew and gave Aaron Hill too

yeah I am crazy asking why these guys should have been considered FOR MVP CONSIDERING PUJOLIS HAD HOLLADAY AND THE 2 BEST PITCHERS IN THE NL - OR 2 19 GAME WINNERS - ON HIS TEAM.

HR
1. Pujols 47 - WOW, 1 OVER FIELDER..
2. Fielder MIL 46
3. Howard PHI 45

RBI
1. Fielder MIL 141 - 6 AHEAD ON A WORSE TEAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1. Howard PHI 141
3. Pujols STL 135

No, if that is so important than another reason if should have been Tex over Mauer! Yanks only were 16 games better than Minn and thus had to play 2 games in Yankee stadium, where the Twins lost both.

and again maybe if Mauer hadn't missed 53 games out of 162 the Twins might have been better!

so you can't have it both ways!

Ok maybe on Pujolis but shows that Mauer was the wrong choice.

your wrong...some MVP, Mauer playing only 109 games hit s lousy 2 homers in September and like 12 RBI's - when the good ones should raise their games - and also his Slugging # just kept on dropping - he was just lucky that he didn't play 150 games as he numbers would have really been down....

and then there was that pathetic 0 homers and 1 rbi with 2 lousy RBIs when playing 2 games in Yankee Stadium and 3 total for the series. Plus the 3-0 sweep by the Yankees.

so whatever as the above showed how he was very undeserving of the MVP! 109 games played LOL!
