Because I doubt the manager's decision to use his ace twice in a row on 3 days rest I am not a Yankee fan? You are just dumb, Goldie well you bet against the Yanks closing out the Angels with 2 games left as they only needing 1 win. And CC has a decent history of pitching multiple games on 3 days rest. So unless there is rain, what can they do. Not pitch CC in game 7. Did you only want CC pitching in 2 games? You can debate who the Yankee should have pitched in Games 2,3,5,6 but CC needed to pitch 1, 4 & 7 or 3 times in the series.

Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
I would have liked Gaudin to start game 5, then we would have had Burnett for game 6 and Pettitte out of the bullpen for Game 6 or 7 if the starter struggles. I am first of all worried about the bullpen should the starters fail again and that's a direct result of pitching all (!) your starters on three days rest

Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
Bit of controversy in Philly surrounding Cole Hamels. After game 3 he said something to the effect of wanting the season to be over. Granted, it was somewhat out of context (he was specifically asked about HIS struggles, and how would he feel should the Phillies not make it to game 7), but he's said similar things in the past. Last night Brett Myers confronted him in the locker room and they got into a bit of a scuffle. Everybody's tense Makes me believe that Cole won't be pitching again in this series.

That would be talking a big chance not using CC who has proven he can go on 3 days rest and with Gaudin only pitching 1 inning since the end of the regular season. Anyway, they then should prep Gaudin for long relief if Petitte gets hit early and he could go for a bunch of innings.

You don't listen. Gaudin 5, Pettitte or Burnett 6 and CC 7. I just wanted a quality starter in the bullpen to pick up the slack if the CC experiment backfires

Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
i'm not complaining about what girardi did. I would have done the same thing. you spent all this money on cc and burnett, you better run them out there. And with pettitte being a beast this post season, how can you not argue either having 6 starts from cc burnett and pettitte. Pitching on 3 days rest isn't that big of a deal if you do it a few times. Its when you ask them to do it for months is when it gets to them.

Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
Pitchers have a certain rhythm, if you break it can hurt them. Just look at what happened to Joba once they started playing around with his starts. If the gamble works out for Girardi today, I couldn't be happier.
