Most jocks are douchebags. Ovechkin is aware of his image, though, and seems to be pretty tongue in cheek about his ridiculousness.
At the end of the day, he's a pretty good sport.
Awwwwwwww! Despite the loss, he looks very genuine and appreciative of his opponents here, moreso than the other Caps players.
Again...I don't see why people hate Washington. We don't have a super inflated payroll. We're where we are because of good recruiting and player development. And it's not like we have a Detroit-like legacy of being the best. We've really only had a few decent seasons aside from the Ovechkin era...

Re: NHL 2009-2010 Season
I think it's safe to say that Savard's fine. You could not have picked a better player to get the overtime goal. That saying, the Bruins are going to have to play better if they want to win the series. No playoff team can give up a two-goal third period lead and expect to win. They also need to stay the hell out of the penalty box. There was no way they were going to be perfect for so long, especially down 5 on 3.
But any playoff win is a great win and they got it done.
The Montreal series win was more a matter of Washington's play than Montreal's and it'll show next round.
You were saying?

Yeah. PS, trixster: Ovi picked up the slack for the Caps when everyone knows Semin and Green should. Semin is the difference maker. Green played like shit all series but took bad penalties when it counted (not to mention, was responsible for the first goal on Wednesday).
Like, can we seriously poke fun at Mike Green?
Between this:

...why has this franchise trusted him to make wise choices on the ice?

I also don't think Montreal lucked into winning the series (or today's game). They're not just riding Halak.
Exactly. You don't just go out and win three in a row accidentally. As much as the Caps should've won the series, the Canadiens just played better when it counted.

Off to a great start. As long as the Bruins win a game in Philly, they'll be fine. They obviously don't want to give Philly any kind of momentum heading into a possible (and very likely) Game 5.

Christ, why do we have to do this 1for1 things with the injuries. First Savard for Sturm and now Krejci for (probably) Mark Stuart. It would've been nice to have a full roster once this year. Wheeler is gonna have to step it up even more now.
I can't really complain at the moment though. They've played great all series. If the Bruins get to the next round though (obviously it would take a miracle from Philly for them not to advance) they're already going to have a tough matchup no matter who they play.

Re: NHL 2009-2010 Season
Well, might as well talk about the game I watched the most out of the three winners tonight.
I liked the effort, especially late in the third, but Rask wasn't very good tonight. He let in at least two weak goals with the one in overtime being the worst. Both his glove and his arm could've stopped it, but it just squeaked in.
Got to close it out on Monday though. Even though I don't think that's a must-win game, they don't want any part of a Game 6 in Philly. Close em' out now when you've got them down.

The Bruins pretty much got bitch slapped tonight. They didn't put in a whole lot of effort though. When the other team's goalie gets hurt, how do you not try to fire everything at the goaltender who hasn't played since the middle of March? The penalties haven't helped much either. They pretty much showed no heart tonight and now they've earned a trip back to Philly.
Yeah, I'm rooting for the Habs. Two upsets in a row would be nice, if only to silence the bloggers who, following the Caps loss, brought back the tired Sid v. Ovi debate only to declare it over.

Re: NHL 2009-2010 Season
If the Bruins blow the series, it'll obviously because the Flyers played much harder in the final four games, but losing David Krejci has hurt immensely. And the Flyers gaining Simon Gagne didn't help much either. Both things happened in Games 3 and 4 respectively, and that's pretty much what's lead to Philly coming back. If there is a lone bright spot to this game it's that the Bruins played well on defense and the goaltending was solid. But they still weren't desperate enough on offense. Again, for a backup goalie who hasn't played since the middle of March to all of a sudden come in and hold the Bruins to one goal over four and a half periods is pathetic.
So, this has the potential to be quite embarrassing. I thought hockey was dead in Boston before 2008. I'm not sure what will happen if they blow this.
And really, who wants to see a Flyers/Canadiens series? Bruins/Canadiens damnit! It's what hockey is all about.
Freaking phenomenal!! I've been on a high all night! I watched the entire game at the bar with my fellow Habs fans, and it was an amazing atmosphere. It was a joy to watch the Habs play such a fantastic game!! First the President's Trophy winner, now the defending Stanley Cup Champions! Amazing!!! GO HABS GO!!
And man, when Crosby took that stupid penalty 10 seconds into the game that lead to our first goal, I was just laughing to myself!
Love the avatar, trix!
Peace, Mike

Hehe, I dunno but I bet it's a mess! A friend of mine who lives in Montreal was talking about how the honking was still going well past midnight. Oh, how I love Montreal - I hope to be there for my PhD and be able to enjoy being with my fellows Habs fans' and not in Leafs nation where I currently reside.
